for His ascent, Who walketh upon the wings of the
winds, Who maketh His angels spirits, and His
ministers a flame of fire. Who establisheth the earth ،‫اع ِدها‬ ِ ‫ المؤِسس األرض على َقو‬.‫نار‬

in the sureness thereof; it shall not be turned back
forever and ever. The abyss like a garment is His ِ

mantle; upon the mountains shall the waters stand. At

shall they be afraid. The mountains rise up and the
plains sink down, unto the place where Thou hast

established them. Thou appointedst a bound that they َ ‫ َو‬.‫أس ْستَ ُه َل َها‬ َّ ‫الم ْوض ِع الذي‬ َ ‫إلى‬

shall not pass, neither return to cover the earth. He
ِ ‫بال تَعبر‬ ِ ‫ وفي وس ِط ال ِج‬.‫عاب‬ ِّ ‫يون في‬
sendeth forth springs in the valleys; between the

mountains will the waters run. They shall give drink ُُ ْ َ ُ

to all the beasts of the field; the wild asses will wait
to quench their thirst. Beside them will the birds of
the heaven lodge, from the midst of the rocks will ِ ‫ ِم ْن‬،‫ماء تَ ْس ُك ُن‬
‫بين‬ ِ ‫الس‬ َّ ‫يور‬ ُ ‫ط‬ ُ ‫ َعَل ْيها‬.‫ط ِش َها‬ َ ‫َع‬
‫بال ِم ْن‬ ِ
َ ‫أنت الذي َي ْسقي ال ِج‬ َ .‫أصو ِاتها‬ ْ ِ‫خور تُ َغ ِّرُد ب‬

they give voice. He watereth the mountains from His
chambers; the earth shall be satisfied with the fruit of
‫أعمالِ َك تَ ْش َب ُع‬ ِِ ‫ع‬
‫أنت الذي‬ َ .‫األرض‬ ُ ْ ‫ ِم ْن ثَ َم َ ِرة‬،‫الليه‬ ّ َ
Thy works. He causeth the grass to grow for the

cattle, and green herb for the service of men, to bring
forth bread out of the earth; and wine maketh glad the ‫ لُي ْخ ِرَج‬.‫الب َشر‬ َ ‫ض َرةَ لخ ْد َمة‬ ْ ‫الخ‬

heart of man. To make his face cheerful with oil; and

bread strengtheneth man’s heart. The trees of the

plain shall be satisfied, the cedars of Lebanon, which

Thou hast planted. There will the sparrows make their َ ‫لبنان الذي َن‬ َ ‫ و ْأرُز‬،‫الغاب‬ ‫جار‬

ُ ‫ ال ِج‬.‫ومساك ُن الهيرودي تَتََقَّد ُمها‬

nests; the house of the heron is chief among them.
The high mountains are a refuge for the harts, and so ُ َ

is the rock for the hares. He hath made the moon for ‫القم َر‬
َ ‫صن َع‬ َ .‫خور َمْلجأٌ لألرانب‬ ُ ‫ والص‬،‫العال َيةُ لأليلَة‬
seasons; the sun knoweth his going down. Thou
‫فكان‬ ِ
َّ ‫ و‬،‫لألوقات‬
appointedst the darkness, and there was the night, َ َ‫ َج َع َل الظْل َمة‬.‫روبها‬ َ ‫الش ْم ُس َع َرَف ْت ُغ‬
‫بال تَ ْأزَُر‬ ِ ِ
ٌ ‫أش‬ ْ .‫وحوش الغاب‬ ‫جميع‬ ‫تعُب ُر‬
ْ ‫ فيه‬،‫لَْي ٌل‬
wherein all the beasts of the forest will go abroad;

َّ ‫أشرَق ِت‬ َ ِ‫طلُ َب ِم َن هللا‬ ُ ‫لِتَ ْخ‬
young lions roaring after their prey, and seeking their
food from God. The sun ariseth, and they are gathered ‫مس‬ُ ‫الش‬ َ .‫عامها‬ َ ‫ط‬ ْ َ‫ف وت‬ َ‫ط‬
ِ ‫ وفي‬،‫فاجتَمع ْت‬
‫اإلنسان إلى‬ ‫ َي ْخ ُرُج‬.‫ضت‬ َ ‫ص َي ِرها َرَب‬
together, and they lay them down in their dens. Man
shall go forth unto his work, and to his labor until the ُ ََ
‫أعمالَ َك‬ ِ ِ ‫ص‬ ِ ‫عملِ ِه وإلى‬
evening. How magnified are Thy works, O Lord! In
ْ ‫ظ َم‬ َ ‫أع‬
ْ ‫ ما‬.‫المساء‬ َ ‫ناعته حتى‬ َ ََ
‫األرض ِم ْن‬ ِ ‫ َق ِد امتَأل‬،‫صنع َت‬ ٍ ِ َّ
ْ َ ‫ ُكلها بِح ْك َمة‬،‫يا رب‬
wisdom hast Thou made them all. The earth is filled
with Thy creation. So is this great and spacious sea, ُ ‫َت‬ ْ
‫ابات ال‬ ٌ ‫هناك َدّب‬ ،‫اس ُع‬ ِ ‫الكبير الو‬ ِ
َ ُ َ ‫الب ْح ُر‬ َ ‫ هذا‬.‫خلي َقت َك‬
wherein are things creeping innumerable, small living

creatures with the great. There go the ships; there this
leviathan, whom Thou hast made to play therein. All ‫ناك تَ ْج ِري‬ َ ‫ ُه‬.‫ار َم َع كبار‬ ٌ ‫انات ص َغ‬ ََ َ َ
‫اك‬ ِ
َ ‫ وكلها ّإي‬.‫ين الذي َخلَ ْقتَ ُه َيْل َع ُب فيه‬ ُ ‫ هذا التّّن‬،‫السُف ُن‬
things wait on Thee, to give them their food in due
season; when Thou givest it them, they will gather it.
‫ط ْيتَها‬ َ ‫أع‬ ِ ‫ لِتُعطيها طعامها في‬،‫تَتَرجَّى‬
When Thou openest Thy hand, all things shall be
ْ ‫أنت‬َ ‫ وإذا‬،‫حينه‬ َ َ ْ َ
ُ ‫ص ِر‬ ُ ُ‫ك َف َي ْمتَلِئ‬
filled with goodness; when Thou turnest away Thy
face, they shall be troubled. Thou wilt take their spirit, ‫وجه َك‬
َ ‫ف‬ ْ َ‫ ت‬،‫خي اًر‬ْ ‫الكل‬ َ ‫ تَْفتَ ُح َيد‬.‫جم َع ْت‬ َ
and they shall cease; and unto their dust shall they ‫ وإلى تُ ارِب ِه ْم‬،‫اح ُه ْم َف َي ْف َن ْو َن‬ َ ‫ع أرو‬ ُ ‫ تَْن ِز‬.‫ط ِربون‬ َ‫ض‬ ْ ‫َف َي‬
‫ وتُ َجِّدُد َو ْج َه‬،‫ون‬
return. Thou wilt send forth Thy Spirit, and they shall
be created; and Thou shalt renew the face of the earth. َ ‫ تُ ْرِس ُل رو َح َك َفُيخَلُق‬.‫عون‬ َ ‫َي ْر ِج‬
Let the glory of the Lord be unto the ages; the Lord
‫ َي ْف َرُح الرَّب‬،‫الده ِر‬ ْ ‫َّب إلى‬ ِّ ‫ لِ َي ُك ْن م ْجُد الر‬.‫األرض‬
will rejoice in His works. Who looketh on the earth َ
and maketh it tremble, Who toucheth the mountains ،‫في ْج َعُلها تَ ْرتَ ِعُد‬ َ ‫ض‬ ِ ‫األر‬ ْ ‫ظ ُر إلى‬ ُ ‫ الذي َي ْن‬.‫بأعمالِه‬
‫ و َّأرِت ُل‬،‫َّب في َح َي ِاتي‬ َّ ‫ُسِّب ُح الر‬ ِ
and they smoke. I will sing unto the Lord throughout
my life, I will chant to my God for as long as I have َ ‫ أ‬.‫الجبال فتَُد ّخ ُن‬ َ ‫وي َمس‬ َ

َ ‫ وأنا‬،‫ َيل ُذ َل ُه تَأملي‬.ً‫إلل ِهي ما ُد ْم ُت َم ْوجودا‬
‫أفرُح‬
my being. May my words be sweet unto Him; I will

rejoice in the Lord. O that sinners would cease from

be no more. Bless the Lord, O my soul. The sun
knoweth his going down. Thou appointedst the َ
darkness, and there was the night. How magnified are ‫ كلَّها‬،‫ظ َم أعماَل َك يا رب‬ َ ‫ ما أع‬.‫فكان َلْي ٌل‬ َ ‫ظْل َم َة‬ُ ‫ال‬

Thy works, O Lord! In wisdom hast Thou made them

protecting door round about my lips. ّ
Incline not my heart to evil words, to make .‫الشر َف َيتَ َعلَّ َل بِ ِعلَ ِل الخطايا‬

excuses in sins.

communicate with the choicest of them.

‫الخاط ِئ‬ ‫يت‬

The just man shall correct me in mercy and shall
reprove me; but let not the oil of the sinner anoint

with which they are well pleased; their judges

They shall hear my words, for they are sweet; as

have I put my trust, take not away my soul.
