Models and decision making

You have recently joined a new company as a trainee data

analyst. The company import a range of different speciality cars
from Germany and France. They supply the cars to a number of
different car specialists throughout the UK. The company face a
number of challenges due to currency exchange rate fluctuations
(between the Euro, that they buy the cars in, and the pound that

product is relatively expensive and sells better when economic
growth is good and less well when it is poor. Part of your job will
be to help develop some models to try to predict future sales of
the cars. However, before you start work on developing the
model, the managers in the company (who do not have a
background in IT) would like you to provide them with a
presentation on the ways in which spreadsheet models can be
used.

Create a presentation, including speaker’s notes, in which

provides an evaluation of the ways in which spreadsheet models
can be used to predict the outcome of different situations and
therefore support the decisions that the managers need to make

as they run the company. You need to make sure you cover the
typical stages involved in the decision-making process, and how
the advanced features and functions of spreadsheet models can
be used to support those stages.
