Course Title: NEEDLECRAFT AND HANDICRAFT
Course Credits : 3 units Contact Hours/Week: 5 HOURS
Course Description: The subject is designed to develop knowledge, skills and attitudes to perform on needlecraft and
handicraft. It covers core competencies such as understand concept and terms of the different types of
needlecraft and handicraft, develop a project plan, create marketable and presentable product package
for the needle crafted articles and observe proper posture, and safety precautionary measures while
working on a needlecraft project. Explain the various kinds of handicraft such as paper craft, accessories
and other related handicraft. Perform basic stitches on a needlecraft. In addition, the subject is designed
to help and guide students in the making of projects. This enables individuals to learn the skills and
techniques of producing a quality product. Constant practice, enthusiasm and creativity will help the
learner show her fashion ability. Art consciousness that is deeply hidden within the student will be
expressed through product designing .It also includes the mechanics on planning, preparing, and
evaluating relevant for livelihoods opportunities.
Prerequisite:
Course Learning Outcomes At the end of this course, the students should be able to:

Knowledge
1. Define and discuss the meaning of handicraft and clothing.
2. Discuss the importance of handicraft and clothing in terms of family economics status.
3. Determine the principles of handicraft making and basic clothing construction
4. Identify the different kind of handicraft product.
5. Identify the different basic tools and materials used in handicraft making and sewing.

Skills
1. Apply the knowledge and skill gained in handicraft making and sewing the fabric.
2. Develop the ability to utilize the native/local materials in handicraft making.
3. Make a project out of native or local materials.
4. Recognize the qualities of materials to be looked for handicraft making and sewing the fabric.
5. Name the different tools and equipment used in sewing.

5. Students are required to wear complete uniform (with ID) as prescribed by the college and
university.
6. Students are required to wear their laboratory gown and PPA (Personal Protective Outfit)
during Laboratory Activity.
7. Report to class on time and stay for the entire class session.
8. If for any valid reason the student will not be able to attend the class, an excuse letter
should be presented to avoid being marked absent. Students however are responsible for what
transpired if they miss a class.
9. Any students who decides to drop the course within the allowable period should submit a
copy of the dropping slip to the teacher, to be given an official grade of DROPPED. Otherwise,
failure to do so ,the student receives a grade of 5.0 .
10. Students are expected and must do original work for all assignments, case studies or
projects. Students are responsible for their own conduct and all cases of dishonesty. Students
caught plagiarizing or cheating (in any form) during quizzes and examinations will automatically
receive a failing grade(5.0) for that quizzes, exam, project and assignment.
11. All written reports, projects and assignment should be submitted on the scheduled time &
date, only one day late is considered beyond that late submissions will not be accepted.
12. The faculty –in-charge should be notified in case the student will not be able to take any of
the major exams. Failure to do so, the student will be given a grade of 5.0 for the missed exam.
13. ONLY black or blue ink pens are allowed during quizzes and any exam.
14. For any concerns from the class, the class president will be the one to notify the faculty-in-
charge of said concern.
15. Avoid littering-Manage your trash properly-Practice segregation
16 .Respect your classmates,schoolmates,professors,and other school authorities
17 . Do not loiter; use free-time a quality time.
18. Politely interact and be active in class.
19. Do not smoke within the school perimeter, smoking is strictly prohibited
