ACCOMMODATION TRENDS

 Cybersecurity
o Hotels, with their growing reliance on digital platforms and devices, find themselves thrust into a
precarious position where the threat of hacking, data breaches, and violations of privacy loom
larger than ever before. As the hospitality industry embraces technology to enhance guest
experiences, the vulnerabilities inherent in this digital age become increasingly pronounced.
From sophisticated cybercriminals exploiting weaknesses in hotel networks to inadvertent leaks
of personal information, the risks faced by these establishments are both myriad and daunting.
The hospitality sector must remain vigilant in implementing robust security measures to protect
sensitive data and shield their guests from the ever-present dangers lurking in the shadows of
the virtual realm.

o In the dynamic landscape of the hospitality industry, it is incumbent upon hotel management to
remain vigilant against potential threats to the security and integrity of their systems and data.
This necessitates a careful consideration of the very individuals who are entrusted with access to
these resources – namely, workers, subcontractors, or partners. While the majority of these
personnel are dedicated and ethical, it is crucial to acknowledge the unfortunate reality that a
small minority may abuse or exploit their privileged positions for nefarious or selfish purposes.
Consequently, establishing robust safeguards and implementing continuous monitoring
measures are imperative to mitigate any potential risks and maintain a secure environment for
both the hotel and its valued guests.

 Cost of living crisis

o In today's dynamic hospitality landscape, hotels are encountering a formidable hurdle as the
soaring costs of labor, food, and energy gradually erode their profitability and sustainability. This
burgeoning challenge compels hoteliers to deftly navigate the complex terrain of an ever-
evolving industry, where balancing the delicate equilibrium between cost-effective operations
and ensuring exceptional guest experiences becomes paramount. The relentless increases in
labor expenses, coupled with the mounting costs of procuring quality food and energy, compel
hotel industry leaders to ingeniously strategize innovative solutions, explore technological
advancements, and foster sustainable practices, thereby safeguarding their economic stability
and environmental stewardship for the long haul.

o In order to thrive in the highly competitive accommodations industry, it is essential for

businesses to understand and respond to the evolving expectations and preferences of their
diverse clientele. Meeting client demands and ensuring utmost satisfaction has become
increasingly challenging as people now seek a seamless blend of exceptional customer service,
affordability, convenience, and safety.
 Environmental considerations
o Hotels are adopting more environmentally friendly measures as a result of consumers' increasing
knowledge. Hotels have started to implement more sustainable practices and eco-friendly
measures due to the growing awareness and demand from consumers.

o Sustainability and its effects on the environment. Due to resource use, waste production, and
greenhouse gas emissions, the lodging sector has a big influence on the environment. The
concept of sustainability in the lodging sector is becoming increasingly important as the industry
recognizes its responsibility to minimize its impact on the environment.

ACCOMMODATION CHALLENGES

 Cybersecurity
o Put into practice a security-driven networking strategy that unifies networking and security
features into one solution. In addition to saving operating expenses and increasing security, this
can assist hotels in streamlining their network infrastructure and enhancing performance. Hotels
may embrace new technologies like cloud services, IoT devices, and contactless check-in without
sacrificing security by implementing a security-driven networking solution.

o Hotels should impose a code of ethics and conduct, conduct background checks, train workers,
and put in place stringent access control and monitoring policies. It is essential for hotels to
establish a comprehensive code of ethics and conduct to ensure that employees adhere to high
standards of professionalism and integrity. This code should outline the hotel's expectations for
ethical behavior, confidentiality, customer service, and other important aspects of the job. By
taking these proactive measures, hotels can create a safe and ethical work environment for their
employees and provide a high level of service and security for their guests.

 Cost of living crisis

o Rethink your marketing budget: While marketing is necessary to draw in new clients and keep
existing ones, done poorly it may be costly and ineffectual. Hotels may maximize their marketing
spend by concentrating on the most lucrative markets and customer groups and by measuring
and enhancing their return on investment through data analysis.

o The sector can use technology to improve customer experience by streamlining procedures,
tailoring offers, communicating clearly, and gathering feedback. By leveraging technology, the
sector can enhance the customer experience in a multitude of ways. By streamlining procedures,
businesses can make processes more efficient and convenient for their customers. Tailoring
offers and promotions based on customer preferences and behavior can provide a more
personalized and targeted experience. Clear and effective communication through various
technological channels can ensure that customers are well-informed and engaged throughout
their interactions. Finally, gathering feedback through technology allows businesses to
continuously improve their offerings and address any issues that may arise. Overall, the use of
technology opens up endless possibilities for improving and optimizing the customer experience
in the sector.

 Environmental considerations
o Use reusable or biodegradable materials instead of plastic when it comes to utensils, toiletries,
and packaging. By choosing to use reusable or biodegradable materials in place of plastic for
utensils, toiletries, and packaging, you can significantly reduce the amount of plastic waste that
ends up in landfills and oceans.

o Green practices, such as using renewable energy, recycling materials, conserving water and
chemicals, and buying locally and ethically, can be implemented by the industry to lessen its
impact on the environment and promote sustainability.

(NARRATIVE REPORT)

For us tourism students, our school has urged us to go on a tour. Though a little costly, we nevertheless
decided to sign up. For the duration of the excursion, we were the tourists. On the day of the tour, I got
up early, eager for the adventure. Since I was already running late, I didn't have time for breakfast, so I
asked my cousin, who kindly consented to bring me to school.

After preparing and packing the necessities for the trip, I went to school. I also brought a stuffed panda
on the trip because I can’t sleep comfortably if I’m not at home so I brought the panda for comfort. The
teachers checked our bags for security measures before we board the bus. I completely forgot that we
were not allow to bring scissors so I surrendered it to ma’am Mao that morning. Many hours have
passed, we had a small stop over before going to the museum called Pamintuan Mansion. It was located
at Angeles, Pampanga. The museum features exhibits that showcase various facets of the "Filipino Life,"
as well as a display on the mansion's history. Inside, a variety of Philippine textiles, accessories, and
weaving instruments are on display. The also features apparel that reflects regional fashion and culture.
What caught my attention was the kitchen and the cooking materials that they used before. Due to my
Lola being a TLE student back in the day, it reminds me of her. It also reminds me of the clay pot and
stove I used to “cook food” in. it also educates me on how the Filipinos back actually cook using these
tools. We took some pictures and explored the museum. It was fun because of how informative it was.
After the Museum trip, we went to Nijon aji buffet. It was a Restaurant that serves a vast variety of Asian
dishes. They have Chinese, Japanese, and our very own Filipino dishes. The place was amazing. Every
food that was served there is a 10 out of 10! Honestly, I ate a lot of my favorite sushis that day since me
and my friends have stated, “saying binayad pag di binusog ang sarili”, so we filled up our bellies with
huge amounts of food and no doubt we gained a few pounds but, in the end, it’s really worth it though.
Me and my friends loved and enjoyed the food and services that we got so full and satisfied that we
slept on the way to our next destination.

We went to a hotel named Xenia Hotel after eating. I instantly felt really relaxed upon seeing the
entrance, you can safely assume that the place is secured and very peaceful. Upon entering, we already
saw the casino which is actually cool but we can’t take pictures of it since it might land us into trouble.
The ambiance of the hotel is elegant, the put so much attention to detail and to their high-quality
materials. We went to the front desk office where we were welcomed nicely by the staffs. I found one of
the front desk clerks alluring since she has a pretty face and a calming aura. After we received our room
keys and went to our respective rooms. Going to our rooms took quite some time since one of the
elevators isn’t working. We decided to take the stairs instead since we have no choice. After 3 flights of
stairs, we finally managed to use the elevator. When we got to our floor, we somehow got lost while
finding our room since it is a huge hotel and it’s our first time staying there. What caught my attention
the most was the pool that me and my room mates can see just outside our balcony. We enjoyed the
view as we relaxed our tired but full bodies after all that walking from the tour. Just as we entered the
room, we already knew that we will be able to rest comfortably. The room was so nice and it wasn’t so
bad to be occupied by four students. It was simple and the ambience of the room was so comfortable.
We spent our remaining time resting and enjoying the amenities provided in the room. After a while, we
had a short seminar regarding hotel familiarization, the do’s and don’ts while in the hotel, etc. after the
seminar, we went ahead and ate again then afterwards we played games. After the fun but tiring games,
me and my room mates had our well-deserved rest since It was getting pretty late anyway and we have
to wake up early since there’s still so much to do on day two. On our second day, we had had our
breakfast at the hotel. I wasn’t that hungry but still, I paid for the tour so I might as well enjoy the food
being offered to me there. After the breakfast, me and my friends went on a little walk around the hotel.
We checked the pool and their very aesthetic hangout spot. We also looked for the gym but it’s closed
for unknown purposes. Me and my friends took a lot of pictures and enjoyed the scenic view. After that,
we went back to our rooms to pack our stuffs. We returned the room keys and went to the bus again
since we have to go to our next destination.

We arrived at Diaspora farm which is our next tour destination. When we arrived, we ate our lunch
where I almost got sent to the hospital since I found a glass shard on my rice but I dare not to complain
because of the sweet lady who runs the farm. I didn’t want to trouble them so I kept quiet. We had a
little seminar so that we are informed about the place and on how the farm began. I learned a lot about
making their special Palitaw and ointment. I also learned about pottery which is cool. They even made
Ma’am Mao demonstrate! Shockingly, for a farm, the surroundings are clean and the vast number of
plants is somewhat refreshing to see. After enjoying the farm trip, we went back to the bus and headed
to SM City Pampanga. We did a little window shopping and walked around the mall. We became hungry
so we ate at Bon chon then proceed with enjoying our time. I remember also seeing David Licuaco at the
mall. After a while, we looked at the time and headed towards the bus. I spent the remainder of our trip
napping until we got to school. When we arrived at the school which is our last stop, we bid our
goodbyes to each other and went home. I've gained a lot of knowledge and abilities throughout the
course of the tour, and I'm sure I'll apply them in the future.
