LEARNING CAMP FRIDAYS

OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the session, the students are expected to:
1. identify the meaning of vocabulary words;
2. construct sentences using the unfamiliar words; and
3. recognize the importance of building vocabulary.

PRE-READING ACTIVITY: Mix and Match!


Setting of Standards:
1. The teacher will introduce the activity, Mix and Match.
2. The teacher will then divide the class into five groups.
3. Each group will be handed with learning activity sheets consisting of the
jumbled letters (and its synonyms for clues), and the sets of definitions.
4. Then, the groups will unscramble the words out from the jumbled letters.
5. Afterwards, they will match the words to the definitions provided.
6. They will be given 10 minutes to do the task.
7. After the allotted time, the students will present their work.

3. If you encounter difficult words, what do you do?

Setting of Standards:
1. The teacher will hand copies of the poem Desiderata
2. The teacher will then present an audio-visual presentation of the poem for five
minutes.
3. Afterwards, the class will be divided into five groups.
4. Each group will be assigned to a certain task through drawing of lots

b. Song adaptation
c. Poster-Making
d. Rap
e. Role-play
5. They will be given 15 minutes to prepare and 3 minutes to present.
Analysis:
The teacher will ask the following questions:
1. How do you find the activity?
2. In the poem, what are the new words that you encountered? Can you define
those words?
3. What is the importance of knowing the words and its meaning in
understanding the poem?
4. How do these words contribute to the whole meaning of the poem?
