III. Personal Learning Experience

Although the lessons that are included in their Learning Activity Sheets are easier than I thought,
what makes it harder in tutoring is that they do not have prior knowledge about the topics so they ask too
much questions. But it is still okay because it shows that I have the power to widen their minds because of
how I explain the topic to them. I do not talk to them as a superior individual but rather as a friend who acts
as a more knowledgeable other. This makes it easier for them to catch up everything I say and explain.

The tutees have different approaches towards their modules. One tend to cry because writing a
couple of words is a very difficult task for her. Another tend to predict words they’re trying to read, even with
figures. The two others can easily understand their modules because they are somehow advanced readers.
Diversity of learners really affects the teaching and learning process. You’ll have to try different methods
and approaches I teaching to see what fits in their capabilities and competencies. Lessons can be a one
size fits all but the way you deliver it to every individual must be designed according to their level of needs..
As a person who suffers from social anxiety, handling people especially children is a difficult task
for me because even at the middle of a conversation or a session, I tend to zone out a lot and forget the
words which I am about to say. I do all my best to overcome the fear of talking in front of the crowd
because as a future educator, it is my responsibility to face them every day. As an aspiring educator, I must
see to it that I will leave a positive impact on the lives of my students.
