Lesson Plan in Science VI

Quarter: 1 Week: 1

Topic: Friction Teacher: Kristina Cassandra E. Magdugo

A. CONTENT STANDARD The learners demonstrate

understanding of gravity and friction affect

movement of objects

B. PERFORMANCE STANDARD The learners should be

able to produce an

advertisement

demonstrates road safety

C. LEARNING COMPETENCIES The learners should be able to infer how

friction and gravity

affect movements of

different objects. S6FE-

IIIa-c-1

Code: S6FE-IIIA-C-1

I. OBJECTIVE:

At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to:

● Define friction;
● demonstrate how friction work

Friction is a force that resists the

sliding or rolling of one solid object
over another. Frictional forces, such
as the traction needed to walk
without slipping, may be beneficial,
but they also present a great Learner 4:
measure of opposition to motion. Friction

Now, what would happen if you

tried to walk without friction?

Learner 5:

Friction is a force, the resistance of Friction

motion when one object rubs
against another. Whenever two
objects rub against each other, they
cause friction. Friction works
against the motion and acts in the
opposite direction. The amount of
friction depends on the materials
from which the two surfaces are
made.

A rough surface will have more

friction because on the rough
surface there will be more

irregularities. They will cause
interlocking which in turn creates
(4) Elaborate more frictional force. For a smooth
surface, irregularities and
interlocking is less and hence has
very less friction.

I will show you a video so that you

will understand more about friction.

(Video viewing about friction)

(possible answer)

Everything would slide to the

lowest point if there was no
friction.

Group Activity:

The learners will be group into 5

and will discuss about the topic
(friction) and give (5) examples
about friction.

Say: who can share their examples

of friction?
