Ⅰ. Overview of the University

National Changwon University is to be the center of Gyeongnam's development,
in which leading the fourth industrial revolution. Based on the values of diligence,
truth, freedom, and creativity, it strives to foster an academic community that
explores truth with upright thinking. With the interest and support of Gyeongnam
residents and local citizens, as the central university of Changwon Special City
which is a mega city with a population of 1.05 million, our university campus is
situated in the beautiful nature of Gyeongnam, where students can enjoy the
benefits and the romance of university life. We operate a system known as titled
half-tuition and various scholarship programs and we also focus on practicing
affordable tuition fees.
In addition, Changwon National University is engaged in various projects such as
the Smart Manufacturing Advanced Workforce Development Project, National
University Nurturing Project, Gyeongsangnam-do Regional Innovation Platform,
LINC+ Project, and BK21 Project. We support activities such as tailored employment
tracks for large companies, overseas visits related to majors, and on-site
internships, aiming to enrich not only academic pursuits but also the lives of
students and provide experiences that foster growth and abundance. Through
extracurricular programs, our school aims to enhance students' credentials and
guide them towards realizing their dreams.
Recently, we have been creating innovative infrastructure in both indoor and
outdoor spaces, based on our spacious grounds and beautiful campus. We are
providing student-centered spaces where students can stay utilizing it and also
creating spaces that can be shared by the local community. Changwon National
University, composed of eight colleges, with over 10,000 enrolled students pursues
noble academic science in tandem with the nation's development. We engage in
competency-based activities across various disciplines and contribute as a regional
innovation hub.

※ All majors are taught in Korean as a basic, and English lectures are available only for particular majors.
※ Korean Language and Literature, Early Childhood Education departments conduct separate
interviews.
※ Only those who have passed Level 3 or higher on the Korean Language Proficiency Test can
apply for Korean Language and Literature, Early Childhood Education, and Nursing
departments.
※ The Department of Fine Arts recruits for master's and doctoral programs in Korean Painting, and
only for a master's degree in Western Painting. Turn in the portfolio.
※ For the Music department, if overseas stay or face-to-face exams are not possible, the
practical exam will be evaluated by a video (file format: mp4) taken with a personal
camcorder. For composition applicants, submit the free composition piece(Master’s degree) and
the Portfolio(Ph.D) via email.
※ For the industrial design department (product design), A total of two work portfolios should be
submitted by email and in writing, and a face-to-face/video interview will be conducted in
Korean if necessary. An applicant should be possible 3D simulation programs, and the
department will recruit a maximum of one person.
※ For the practical examination of the Dance department, overseas residents should submit a personal
work video (within 2 minutes).
※ The recruitment and eligibility requirements for the Collaborative academic program depend on the
recruitment criterias of the general course units.
※ If a document is submitted that meets one of the ‘three requirements’ for [eligibility] in below
table, the remaining documents for the other clauses do not need to be submitted. However for
departments marked with ★, a Korean language proficiency test score is a must and for
departments marked with ▲, a statement of admission guarantee signed by the academic
advisor professor within the department must be submitted.

Ⅳ. GKS Alumni
1. In 2023, there are 6 GKS-G Government Korean Scholarship students
studying Korean language course at present.
2. They are on a course for Changwon National University’s Korean Language
school presently, in addition to the regular program, students have various
curriculum opportunities such as afternoon special supplementary classes,
one-on-one Korean language lessons with mentors, cultural experiences,
and participation in several events in university.
