1. Introduction
the request from Operation department is Provide third filter cartridge for 105F008A-B, the
plant cannot run with two filters only as one need to be cleaned on line.
2. Document reference
PID 105-1 / 105-6 - PFD 105-1
3. Discussion
As per the design the regenerated lean MDEA solvent leaves the stripper bottom at 532 m3/h
via Filter 105F008 A or B that mean one filter put in service the other in standby but in actual
case we work with two filter because the increase of MDEA flow reached to 650 m3/h and the
max. capacity of one filter is 580.4 m3/h for that the process upset when one filter is saturated
The operation parameter is out of design and has consequences on equipment’s.
This increase of flow caused by the process gas upstream the co2 removal unit.
To avoid dysfunction of the unit, the proposal is to increase capacity of these filters with flow
rate max. 710 m3/h without change the dimension of inlet / outlet flange filters.
Option 01: install 02 filter with max. 710 m3/h flow rate
Option 02: install new filter with same existing capacity i.e 580.4 m3/h

4. Recommendation
We recommend to:
1. resolve the problem upstream (process gas parameter and circulated MDEA) in CO2
removal unit
2. Check the performance of CO2 removal unit
3. Change filter by increase capacity or add new one
5. Conclusion
