The learner demonstrates understanding of: Philippine literature in the Period


of Emergence as a tool to assert one’s identity; strategies in listening to and
viewing of informative and short narrative texts; word relationships and
CONTENT STANDARD
associations; informative speech forms; and use of direct/reported speech,
passive/ active voice, simple past and past perfect tenses, and sentence
connectors.
Performance Standard: The learner transfers learning by: showing ways of
asserting one’s identity; comprehending informative and short narrative texts
PERFORMANCE using schema and appropriate listening and viewing strategies; expressing
STANDARD ideas, opinions, and feelings through various formats; and enriching written and
spoken communication using direct/reported speech, active/passive voice,
simple past and past perfect tenses and connectors correctly and appropriately

In this learning session, the participants should be able to:
Read and understand the chosen short stories
Objectives:
1. Identify the elements of the story
2. Share the moral of the story

***Preliminary Activities/Daily Routine

Pre-Reading

Activity 1.
Directions: Using the book they brought to read, the students will identify the elements of the story.
(The students will start to read the chosen short story silently and identify the elements of the story using a
concept map which will be shown by the teacher on the board)

While Reading
Activity 2
Directions: Note-taking details.
(While reading the story quietly, the students will start taking notes of the important information that they plan to
include in the concept map)

Motive Question: Is there a part of the story that you can relate to the most? Why?

Post Reading
Directions: Write a 5-sentence paragraph about the story you read. Include the traits of the character
you admire and the lessons that you can use in real life.
