February 15, 2024 MEETING MINUTES

Meeting called to order promptly at 9:30 AM in attendance 13

Joannie Shalls with SCPS opened the meeting Joannie Introduced herself and the members made introductions.

Approval of Minutes:
Rahcel Slavkin approved the minutes and Kristal Powell seconded.
Presentation ● Penny Jones from Magnify of Central Florida presented
information regarding their services and programs they offer for
people with disabilities. These are available for residents and non-
residents as well as adults of all ages.

Announcements ● OCPS Transition Fair will be April 20th 9AM-12PM location to be

determined.
● Magnify will have career camps March 11th-14th and 18th-21st
for students as young as 14 years old. They are also offering
Discovery Services.
● Build Your Future will be hosting an interest meeting April 17th at
6Pm at the West Campus.
● Orange Technical College:
o Build Your Future is conducting interviews and accepting
applications for August enrollment. They will be adding
Lodging Operations to the program next school year.
o OTC Expo will be held on February 26th on their south
campus. The Expo highlights all their programs and is
primarily for students in high school looking for their
next steps.
● RAISE is starting to take applications for September enrollment.
● Goodwill is promoting the transition services they offer beyond
retail.
