WEBINAR PROPOSAL

1. INTRODUCTION

Today’s world has changed continuously in every dimension of living, which directly
affects the global population, which needs to adjust themselves and accommodate the
living styles of the 21st century. In terms of education, Gen Z students learn best by
doing and enjoying the challenge of being part of a classroom. As is evident, most
learners today cannot stand learning English in a conventional classroom where
teachers play a role as the centre of the class. Those Gen Z learners refuse to be
passive learners in a classroom. On the other hand, they prefer taking part in a
classroom and participating in the learning process, and not just sitting and listening to
what they have heard

Since project-based learning is well-known as a practical approach that supports a


learning-by-doing strategy, we propose the webinar "Enhancing English Language
through Project-Based Learning." This webinar aims to provide the idea of using
project-based activities in an English learning class and share the benefits of
implementing them in an English as Second Language (ESL) classroom.

2. OBJECTIVES
The main objectives of this webinar are:
2.1 To provide teacher trainees with exposure to project-based learning in the ESL
classroom
2.2 To provide teacher trainees with the idea of implementing project-based learning
in the primary ESL classroom
2.3 To prepare teacher trainees for practicum

3. TOPIC
The topic of the webinar will be "Enhancing English Language through
Project-Based Learning." This webinar highlights the use of project-based learning to
enhance pupils' English language skills and create meaningful learning, as well as its
benefits. It also addresses the idea of conducting project-based learning in the ESL
classroom.
4. SPEAKER
Madam Logaswari A/P Subramaniam will be the webinar's special guest speaker. She is
an excellent lecturer in the English Language Department at the Institute of Teacher
Education (ITE) Malaysia. Her expertise is in theory and practice in the ESL classroom,
and she also has contributions to 21st-century pedagogical skills in English language
teaching.

5. TARGET AUDIENCE
The target audience will be Institute of International Language Teacher Education
teacher trainees in intake 2021-2026. The lecturers and teacher trainees from the other
institutions are welcome as well.

6. DATE AND TIME


This webinar will take place on weekends so that it will not disturb the audience’s busy
schedule on weekdays. The suitable date for this webinar is on 14th October 2023,
Saturday. The ideal duration for this webinar is one and a half hours, starting from 2:00
p.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Google Meet will be the platform for this webinar. There is no
budget allocation as the webinar is conducted online.

11. CONCLUSION
I believe that this webinar is one of the important components to be exposed to teacher
trainees who will do practicum in order to plan effective teaching and learning. This
webinar is expected to achieve the objectives that have been set and run as planned
with the cooperation of all parties.
