Title: Using D-ID to Improve English Pronunciation

Overview:
The "Using D-ID to Improve English Pronunciation" workshop is designed for English
instructors at SIU. It introduces how to incorporate the AI-powered voice anonymization
tool D-ID and other platforms into their English skills classes to help students improve
their English pronunciation. The primary objective is to empower instructors to integrate
these tools into their language skills classes, encouraging students to record and receive
feedback on various speaking activities and assignments.

Workshop Objectives:
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
 Explain the benefits of using D-ID and similar tools to improve student
pronunciation without impacting student privacy
 Demonstrate how to use D-ID to anonymize sample student recordings
 Incorporate D-ID and tools like Vacaroo into class activities and assignments
 Provide effective feedback to students based on anonymized recordings, focusing on
pronunciation issues
 Assess student perception of the pronunciation feedback activities

Workshop Agenda:
1. Introduction (10 minutes)
o Welcome, and overview of the workshop.
o A brief introduction to D-ID, Vacaroo, and the video uploading platform.
2. Understanding the Tools (15 minutes)
o In-depth exploration of D-ID, highlighting its features and applications for
pronunciation improvement.
o Overview of Vacaroo and its role in audio recording for language learning.
o Explanation of the video uploading platform and its integration with the
tools.
3. Hands-on Session (25 minutes)
o Guided demonstration: Participants create sample activities using D-ID,
Vacaroo, and the video uploading platform.
o Participants practice recording and uploading sample videos to understand
the student experience.
o Q&A session to address any concerns or queries.
4. Integration Strategies (15 minutes)
o Discussion on how to seamlessly integrate these tools into various language
