“Reducing Road Accidents in the Philippines through Creative
Crack Filling Techniques”

Introduction
Road accidents are one of the problems here in the Philippines, road accidents can
cause injuries, deaths, etc. One of the reasons for these kinds of accidents is road cracks.
Small cracks can cause tyre damage, while bigger cracks can cause more serious issues with
your vehicle. They can also lead you to lose control of your vehicle, causing it to collide with
other vehicles, pedestrians, or infrastructure (Ruacorp, 2020). That's why the researchers
conducted a study about covering the cracks in the roads using melted cans, plastics and any
waste that can be used in this study the researchers can help cover small or big road cracks
using their creativity.

Statement of the research problem

Specifically, it aims to answer the following questions: (1)How does the application of
creative crack filling techniques influence the frequency and severity of road accidents in the
Philippines? (2)What challenges and opportunities are associated with the implementation of
creative crack filling techniques? (3)How sustainable are these interventions in contributing
to long-term reductions in road accidents?

Hypothesis
Null Hypothesis (H0):
There is no significant difference in the frequency of road accidents in the Philippines
before and after the implementation of Creative Crack Filling Techniques.
Alternative Hypothesis (H1):
The implementation of Creative Crack Filling Techniques significantly reduces the
frequency of road accidents in the Philippines.

Objectives
The general objectives of this research are to assess the effectiveness of creative crack
filling techniques in reducing road accidents in the Philippines and to assess and implement
effective measures for reducing road accidents in the Philippines by employing creative crack
filling techniques. Specifically, it aims to: 1. Investigate and identify suitable creative crack
filling techniques applicable to Philippine road conditions. 2. Compare accident rates before
and after the application of creative crack filling techniques to determine any statistically
significant reduction. 3. Provide recommendations for the widespread adoption and
continuous improvement of creative crack filling techniques as a sustainable road safety
measure in the Philippines.

Scope and Limitations

This research will examine the effectiveness of Creative Crack Filling Techniques in
high-risk road accident regions in the Philippines. It will involve collaboration with local
authorities and stakeholders. However, the study may be limited by financial resources,
unpredictable weather, and historical data availability. Findings may not be universally
applicable due to variations in road conditions and traffic patterns. The focus is on crack
filling techniques' impact on infrastructure.

Review of Related Literature

Metal Cans:
Johnson and Clark (2020) delve into the sustainability aspect of metal cans. Metal cans
are praised for being infinitely recyclable and having a relatively low environmental footprint
compared to other packaging materials. The recycling process helps conserve energy and
reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Metal Plastics:
The environmental considerations of metal-plastic composites are discussed by
Sustainable Materials and Technologies Journal (2021). Assessing the life cycle and
recyclability of these materials contributes to sustainable practices in material engineering.
Wang and Li (2018) examine the durability and corrosion resistance of metal-plastic
composites. By incorporating corrosion-resistant metals into plastic matrices, these materials
can withstand harsh environments, expanding their applicability in corrosive conditions.

Methodology
The information that the researchers collected is presented in this chapter, together with
information about the research design, respondents, data analysis, resources, materials, and
provenances, and lastly, the expected outcomes.

Research Design
This research will use a mixed-methods research design. This design allows for a
comprehensive understanding of the effectiveness of creative crack filling techniques by
combining both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
Data Analysis and Methods
Researchers will use both quantitative and qualitative data analysis to study road
accidents, collecting pre- and post-intervention data. Comparative analysis will be conducted
between the intervention and control groups, and time series analysis will explore trends.
This study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of creative crack filling
techniques.

Respondents
Officials from local government organizations in charge of road safety and
maintenance are possible respondents for this study. People who frequently use the roads,
such as drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists; local residents living in the areas where creative
crack filling techniques are used; emergency responders; and medical professionals who
handle traffic accidents are among the engineers and workers involved in implementing these
techniques.

What are the resources/materials and procedures that you will use to
achieve the result?
To achieve the researchers goal in this study, they will need materials and equipment
for the creative crack filling techniques. The following materials that the researchers will
need are metal cans and metal plastics. The researchers will also need to access historical data
on road accidents from relevant authorities or databases, detailing accident frequency,
severity, and types. They will also need to monitor the implementation of creative crack
filling techniques, noting any challenges, successes, or adjustments made during the process.

Discussion of expected outcomes

Creative Crack Filling Techniques are expected to reduce road accidents, improve road
surfaces, and enhance infrastructure resilience. This leads to safer driving conditions, reduced
healthcare costs, and improved productivity. Road safety is closely tied to community well-
being, resulting in safer neighborhoods and increased confidence in road reliability.
Environmentally friendly crack filling techniques may reduce the need for frequent repairs,
minimizing the environmental impact. Research on the effectiveness of these techniques can
inform policy recommendations and raise public awareness about road maintenance. These
outcomes contribute to a comprehensive approach to enhancing road safety in the
Philippines.
