RATIONALE OF THE STUDY

“"Reducing Road Accidents in the Philippines through Creative Crack


Filling Techniques.”
Road accidents is one of the problems here in the Philippines, road accidents can cause
injuries, deaths, etc. One of the reasons for these kinds of accidents is road cracks. Small cracks
can cause tyre damage, while bigger cracks can cause more serious issues with your vehicle.
They can also lead you to lose control of your vehicle, causing it to collide with other vehicles,
pedestrians, or infrastructure (Ruacorp, 2020). That's why the researchers conducted a study
about covering the cracks in the roads using melted cans, plastics and any waste that can be used
in this study the researchers can help cover small or big road cracks using there creativity.

The research gap identified in this research is the absence of a comprehensive assessment
of the effectiveness and long-term implications of the unconventional approach proposed by the
researchers to cover road cracks with melted cans, plastic, and waste materials. While this
research highlights the creative aspect of this approach, it fails to address critical questions
regarding the durability, cost-effectiveness, and environmental impact of using such materials for
road maintenance. Furthermore, there is a lack of comparative analysis with traditional road
repair methods, making it uncertain whether this creative solution is superior in terms of safety
and longevity. Additionally, it remains unclear if the proposed approach is adaptable to different
road types and conditions across the diverse geography of the Philippines. Consequently, future
research should focus on addressing these gaps to provide a more informed basis for the adoption
of innovative road repair techniques.

The aim of this study is the following: (a) To assess the effectiveness of using melted
cans, plastics, and waste materials for covering small and large road cracks in terms of durability
and longevity. (b) To evaluate the cost-effectiveness of the proposed creative approach compared
to traditional road repair methods. (c) To investigate the environmental impact of using
unconventional materials for road maintenance, considering factors such as recycling,
sustainability, and potential pollution. (d) To analyze the adaptability and feasibility of this
innovative solution across diverse road types and geographical regions within the Philippines. (e)
To compare the safety implications of the proposed creative method with conventional road
repair techniques in terms of accident prevention and control. (f) To examine the public
perception and acceptance of the use of recycled materials in road repair and assess the potential
barriers or concerns from stakeholders. (g) To provide practical recommendations and guidelines
for the implementation of this creative road crack covering method, considering local
infrastructure and resources in the Philippines.
