CHAPTER III

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter discusses detail explanations about several things such as research design,
setting of the research, the participant, the source of data , technique of data gathering, checking
data trustworthiness and technique of data analysis.

A. Research Design

This research is descriptive qualitative research. According to Gay et, al (2012:7) defines
that qualitative research is the collection, analysis, and interpretation of comprehensive narrative
and visual (i.e., nonnumerical) data to gain insights into a particular phenomenon of interest.
This research uses the design of descriptive method which is a method of research that attempt to
describe and interpret the objects in accordance with reality. The descriptive method is
implemented because the data analysis is presented descriptively. This research belongs to
descriptive qualitative research because the researcher wants to find out and to describe
Implementation teaching strategy of improving literacy and numeracy in Kampus Mengajar (KM)
at SMP N 7 Payakumbuh.

B. Setting of The Research

This research will be conducted at SMPN 7 Payakumbuh which is located in Napar, North
Payakumbuh Regency. The setting of this research will be carried out at SMPN 7 Payakumbuh,
where this school is one of the schools designated to Kampus Mengajar.

The researcher chose this setting due to this school related to the topic of this research,
also based on the researcher's observation in this school while the researcher is a student at this
school.

C.Participant of Resarch

The participants of this study were students of SMP 7 Payakumbuh Payakumbuh.


Participants in this study were grade 8. Because class students were the class chosen to carry out
assessments in the campus teaching program.
D.Source Data

Berg and Lune (2017) Qualitative data need to be shown in a different form in order to
make it more readable and understandable so that it can be drawn out of a particular pattern and
theme.
