characteristics(i.e shape,weight, volume, case of
Compentency flow, texture, ability to float or sink).

III. LEARNING TASK

a. Greetings
Preliminary Activities b. Reading of Objective
c. Checking of Attendance
Teacher shows set of different liquids.
A. ELICIT Say: Here are examples of different liquids. Study
each picture, can you name them?
Where can you find them?

B. ENGAGE Ask the pupils to name some liquids that they

know.
Write their answers on the whiteboard or chart
paper.
Explain that liquids are one of the three phases
of matter, along with solids and gases.

C.EXPLORE Group Activity: (each group will perform the

activity)

*Give each group a clear cup and a disposable

dropper.
*Fill the cups with different liquids, such as
water, milk, oil, and syrup.
*Ask pupils to observe the liquids and describe
their characteristics.
*Some questions you can ask them include:
-What are the different colors of the liquids?
-Can you pour the liquids?
-How do the liquids flow?
-Did the liquid follow the shape of its container?

D. EXPLAIN *After students have had a chance to observe the

liquids, explain the characteristics of liquids.
*Point out that liquids have a fixed volume but no
fixed shape.
*They can be poured and spread out, but they will
always return to their original volume.
*Liquids are also less dense than solids, so they
will float on top of solids.

F. ELABORATE
*To help students understand the difference
between liquids and solids, do a demonstration
with a zip-top plastic bag and some food coloring.
*Fill the bag with water and add a few drops of
food coloring.
*Close the bag and seal it tightly.
*Shake the bag and observe what happens.
*The food coloring will spread throughout the
water, but the water will not change shape.
*This shows that liquids have a fixed volume but
no fixed shape.

G. EVALUATE Direction: Circle the letter of the correct answer.

1. What is the shape of the of the liquid if we

transfer it to a quare container?
a. oblong
b. square
c. triangle
2. Which is false about liquids?
a. It has no definite shape its shape depends
upon the shape of the container.
b. it has definite shape.
c.liquids has color and ability to flow.
3. If you will put coloring to the water, what
happens to the water?
a. water will become solid.
b. The water will not change, only the color will
change.
c.The water will evaporate.
4. Which is true about liquids?
a. Liquids has no fixed volume.
b. Liquids will always not return to its original
volume.
c. Liquids has fixed volume and will return to its
original volume.
5. which of the following set a set of liquids?
a. table softdrinks wine
b. water juice condensed milk
c. paper nail ice tea
H. EXTEND Have a pupils create a poster or presentation
about the characteristics of liquid.
