LIFE ORIENTION:
PHYSICAL EDUCATION WRITTEN TASK
Examiner: Mrs D Musgrave-Nel

Duration: 2 Weeks Total: 40 Marks

Due Date: 27 February 2024 for all


THREE classes.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY:

1. This Task consists of TWO sections: Section A and Section B

2. Learners will be divided into groups of MAX 5 learners per group per class.

3. Each group will choose a topic from the list given on page 2 to answer
questions that are asked (SECTION A:THEORY).
You will need to present the physical activity (SECTION B: PHYSICAL
EDUCATION) either at school or via a group video recording.

4. Each member of the group needs to have their OWN findings either typed
or written down. (See instruction on next page.)

5. If a learner fails to show proof of their contribution, they will lose marks for
the group as a whole.

6. We are looking forward to your collaboration with one another.

NOTE: Safety in Sport & Getting to the Basics of Physical Fitness

• Know the Rules of your chosen sport.


• ALWAYS check that the playing area is safe to play on & that there are no dangerous objects
around or on it such as broken glass, protruding objects, holes in the area etc.
• Dress properly attired for the sport. You are not to wear any jewellery as this may cause an
opponent injury.
• Have the correct equipment.
• Play and compete fairly without causing harm or danger to yourself and fellow competitors.
• The language we use is also important.
• Before any practice session you must go through a warm-up routine to prepare the body for the
physical work that is to come. This will be an important focal point this term.
• At the end of each session, a cool down session must be observed following the guidelines that will
be given to you.
• Always stay hydrated i.e. drink water before, during and after your physical education lesson.
• Be careful with colds and flu and other ailments such as headaches. They may lead to feeling weak
during your workout or may be made worse by exercise. Make sure you are in good health for
exercise.
• Do not do all the exercises in one day.

Each group to choose ONE Medical Condition/Deficiency from the list given below and answer
questions that follow:

This activity must be able to be done by each team member for participation marks to be
awarded.

This Activity can either be recorded and posted onto your Assignment attachment OR it can be
done during the PT session at school.
