Congruent triangles

Two triangles are congruent when they are identical – they have the same 3 sides and the
same 3 angles. Below are the 5 ways to show two triangles are congruent. Each way only
requires three identifiers

≅ is the symbol for ‘is congruent to’

The three identifiers

SSS
(side, side, side)

SAS
(side, included angle, side) ≅

ASA
(angle, included side,
angle)

AAS
(angle, angle, ≅
non-included side)

RHS
(right-angle, hypotenuse,

another side)

Why doesn’t AAA prove congruence?

For RHS, why can it be either of the other two sides from each triangle that are equal?
