CHUYÊN ĐỀ: PASSIVE VOICE (THỂ BỊ ĐỘNG)

a. Present simple
Ex: Lan makes the cake.
- The cake is made by Lan.
S + am/is/are + V3/ed… (by O)
b. Present progressive
Ex: Lan is making the cake now.
- The cake is being made by Lan now.
S + am/is/are + being + V3/ed… (by O)
c. Past simple
Ex: Lan made the cake yesterday.
- The cake was made by Lan yesterday
S + was/were + V3/ed… (by O)
d. Present perfect
Ex: Lan has made the cake for two days.
- The cake has been made by Lan for two days.
S + has/have + been + V3/ed… (by O)
e. Modals verbs
(will, would, can, could, may, might, must, should, ought to, have to, be going to)
Ex: Lan can make the cake.
- The cake can be made by Lan.
S + will/can/could/must/may/.. + be + V3/ed… (by O)

*NOTES(CHÚ Ý):
1/ “by+O” có thể gạch bỏ nếu chủ ngữ trong câu chủ động là các từ sau:
I/ you/ we/ they/ she/ he/ it
2/ “by+O” phải gạch bỏ nếu chủ ngữ trong câu chủ động là các từ sau:
Someone / somebody/ no one/ no body/ anyone/ anybody/ everyone/ everybody/ people
3/ Nếu chủ ngữ trong câu chủ động là: no one/ no body / none thì khi chuyển sang câu bị động ta
phải thêm “not” sau tobe
Ex.: No one bought books at the market yesterday.
 Books were not bought at the market yesterday.
4/ Vị trí trạng từ trong câu bị động:
a/Trạng từ tần suất (always, usually…) đứng sau tobe
b/Trạng từ thể cách (carefully, happily…) đứng trước V3/ed
c/Trạng từ nơi chốn ( at home, in the park…) đứng trước by + O
d/ Trạng từ thời gian (today, yesterday…) đứng sau by + O
e/ Trạng từ (already/ just ) trong Hiện tại hoàn thành đứng trước been

*Các bước làm bị động

1. Xác định S/V/O
2. Viết “O” lên đầu làm chủ ngữ câu bị động
3. Chọn chữ “bị/được’ phù hợp (am, is, are)
4. Thêm by + sb (nếu cần)
5. Viết những thành phần còn lại của câu (adv of time, adv of place)
6. Dịch lại câu để kiểm tra
