In accordance to the Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week on the third
week of October, the Barkada Kontra Droga (BKD) of Sto. Tomas National High
School (STNHS) organized various activities to acknowledge the event which
includes the declamation contest which was supported by the Supreme Student
Government (SSG) of STNHS.
The declamation contest was open to Grade 7 to Grade 12 learners which
revolved around the theme, “Ti Panagdroga ken panagsigarilyo makadadael ti
salun-at” which it was implemented on December 12, 2022. The mechanics of the
competition was disseminated through distributing the hard copies to each
classroom from grade 7 to grade 12 which provided the information of the contest.
The participants were gathered in one group chat where the declamation piece was
provided for the participants to memorize. The declamation piece also has an open
ending which requires the participants to be creative and continue the piece in their
own point of view. The BKD and SSG president Jackson Tindo and Jean Kate Uden
are assign to be the masters of ceremony.The author of the piece is the adviser of
BKD and SSG of STNHS, Ms. Josephine Paulino-Danis.
During the implementation the participants presented to the judges which are
composed of the former BKD president Melvin Tolabis, SK chairman Ms. Venus
Legaspi, Founder of Digway TV Mr. Andrew Paulino and. The criteria of the contest
consist of (1) mastery of the piece-40%, (2) delivery -20%,(3) gestures and facial
expressions-20%, and (4) overall performance-20% a total of 100%
The e-declaim ko campaign was divided into 3 categories. Category A: grade
7 - 8, category B: grade 9 -10, and category C: grade 11-12. Under category A the
first place goes to grade 7 Alexin Hemiko and under category B the firstplcae goes
to grade 9 Hann Villiena moving on to the category C where the firstplace goes to
Grade 12 Xia Gonzalez, second place went to Grade 12 Sharon Tubaben and third
place went to Grade 12 Edralyn Owayet.
The activity was successful as it met its objectives on spreading awareness
on drug abuse prevention through the creativity of the learners of STNHS wit a
theme of “Ti Panagdroga ket Makadadael Ti Salun-at”.
