an interview, you can get the story of any important issue of a person‘s life.
As you advance to the next part of this module, you would learn more about
the proper ways on how to conduct an interview.

What’s New

Interviews, in general, are useful as a source of information and enlightenment. The


interviewer has the obligation to plan the details of the interview so that she or he can save
not just her or his time but the interviewee‘s time as well.

As you go through, you are expected to enhance your knowledge and improve
your skills in determining various social, moral, and economic issues discussed in the text
listened to through conducting an interview. Does it sound exciting? I know you are now
enthusiastic to experience the thrilling ways of learning as we proceed to the next part of
this module.

What is It

What is an interview?

 A formal meeting in which one or more persons question, consult, or evaluate


another person
 A meeting or conversation in which a writer or reporter asks questions to one or more
persons from whom the material is sought for a newspaper story, television
broadcast, etc.

Types of Interview

 Interviews in terms of number of people involved:


o One to one Interview – It is the most common interview where only the
interviewer and the interviewee are present.
o Panel Interview – It is conducted by a group of two or more interviewers.
o Group Interview – A group interview consists of a single interviewer
interviewing multiple candidates at the same time.

 Interviews to be broadcast/published as a whole:


o Informative Interview – about facts & figures in certain topics
o Opinion Interview – about what the interviewee thinks of a specific issue,
event or development
o Personality Interview – about personality of the interviewee

 Interviews as tools:
o Research Interview – aims to research or double-check information to get
additional information for writing reports/commentaries.
o Statement Interview – aims to get an individual statement which becomes a
part of another journalistic piece.
Structure of Interview
