Section 1: General

We have been entrusted by our client to perform Structural design. The structural
calculations report includes the reference code for design, material specifications,
loadings, STAAD model output results. IPN sections are used for Main Framing.

Section 2: Design Loads

Design Loads:
1 Design Live Load on roof (kN/m2) 1.00
2 Design Live Load on frames(kN/m2) 1.00
3 Design Floor Live Load (kN/m2) 2.00
3 Wind Speed (km/hr) 167 (Exposure-C)
4 Additional Collateral Load (kN/m2) 0.00
5 Ground Snow Load (kN/m2) N/A
6 Seismic Zone 2-A

Important Notes:
 Wind speed
MBMA 2006/IBC2006/ASCE7-05 defines the wind speed as the 3 seconds gust wind speed.
 Seismic Zones
Mapped Short Spectral Response ( SDS ) & 1 Second Spectral Response ( SD1 ) are required as per MBMA 2006 (IBC 2006
& ASCE 7-05 ) in order to calculate the Seismic loads on a structure at a given site. If these values are not available, these
values are calculated by trial and error in order to generate the same base shear as per UBC 1997.
 Load combinations
Load combinations are considered as per MBMA 2006

Section 4: General Deflection Criteria

Deflection design greatly influences the weight and price of a building. Applying stringent deflection criteria results in heavier and
costlier building.

Following deflection criteria is used as a standard.
