Learning Targets
✓ I can read and spell the sight words “but, not,
no”.
✓ I can write a sentence independently with an
uppercase to begin, spacing and punctuation.
We did a little check in on this and each day we
practiced writing a sentence to go along with an
illustration. They reflected on what they needed
to focus on and worked toward that and by day
3 they had fine tuned their writing! Super proud
of this reflection and independence in writing!
✓ I can tell you what animals live where in a tree
(roots, trunk, or crown.
✓ I can tell you why trees are important to people
and animals (ask me about wood, shelter, food,
sap, water, air).
✓ I can write a focus statement and details! We
wrote an informational book about why trees
are important to people!
✓ I can tell you “friends of 10”! We continue to
work on this important skill.
✓ I can show different ways to show quantities to
20 on ten frames.
✓ I can write equations to 20.
✓ I can make predictions and observe my seeds!
Radish seeds are coming home on Friday!

UPCOMING EVENTS
After spring break we will learn the sight
words “then, when”. We will review beginning
blends and begin learning about end blends in words
(stamp, sent etc.).
In writing we will begin “how to” writing,
learning about the different characteristics of a
“how to” piece including using transition words,
pictures, and being detailed in our writing so our
writing is easily understood.
In math we will continue Topic 10 and
complete our Topic 10 math test.
In science we will continue to learn about
how seeds travel and parts of a plant. We will also
start a new Mystery Science unit learning about
animal needs.
