I. OBJECTIVE For a remedial reading activity,
the objective should focus on improving the
student's reading comprehension, fluency, or
decoding skills.

focus of the reading activity

will need for the activity, such as reading
materials, worksheets, or online resources. For a
remedial reading activity, it may be helpful to
include additional materials, such as graphic
organizers or reading comprehension guides

A. Pre-Reading: Begin by introducing the


reading material and providing any
necessary background information.
Preview the text with the student by
discussing the title, author, and any
pictures or headings that may help them
to understand the material.

B. During Reading: Read the text aloud to


the student, or have them read it
themselves. Encourage the student to
ask questions and make connections to
their own experiences as they read. Use
strategies such as pausing to check for
understanding and clarifying unfamiliar
vocabulary.
C. Post-Reading After reading, review the
text with the student and discuss any
questions or points of confusion. Use
comprehension strategies such as
summarizing or making connections to
help the student better understand the
material.

material. For a remedial reading activity, it may be
helpful to use a variety of assessment methods,
such as comprehension questions, written
responses, or oral retellings, to gauge the
