To Whom it May Concern,

My name is Miakken Vincent. I am a secondary mathematics major at Dakota State in

Madison, South Dakota, with a minor in educational technology. I started my student teaching in
August 2023 at Madison Middle School. Where I taught 7th grade Math, 8th Grade Math and
Algebra, until graduation on May 4th, 2024. Student teaching in Madison taught me the
importance of relationships with peers and superiors and having a constant willingness to learn. I
am excited and looking forward to the potential opportunity of teaching in your school district!

While attending DSU, I was a member of the Women’s Basketball team for 4 years.
Being a part of this program has helped me develop my time management, organization,
communication, and teamwork. I know all of these skills have helped prepare me for teaching in
my future classroom. Along with basketball, I spent time working at the Before and After School
Enrichment Program at Sioux Valley Schools. This program has allowed me to develop my
classroom management skills, and the opportunity to begin learning the importance of building
relationships with students and staff. Along with how to communicate with superiors, peers,
parents, and students, I have had the privilege to learn hands-on how to plan for and handle
situations in the classroom, as well as learned to lead and communicate.

Dakota State provided me multiple opportunities to observe in the local school district
which allowed me to learn from excellent, experienced teachers, who taught me about classroom
management, teaching styles, and techniques. These experiences have me looking forward to
teaching, hopefully in your district! If you have any further questions in regards to my portfolio

Sincerely,

Miakken Vincent
