1 INTRODUCTION
This Service Bulletin applies to RT-flex50 and RT-flex50B engines.
The first series of RT-flex50 engines were equipped with parallel Cooling Water supply pipes
to the lower- and upper Water Guide Jacket. However, the Cooling Water supply to the upper
Water Guide Jacket should be fitted with a blind flange. The Cooling Water flow has to enter
into the lower Water Guide Jacket and passing over to the upper Water Guide Jacket.
In some cases we found the blind flange wrongly fitted in the lower Cooling Water supply,
resulting in wrong Cooling Water flow and consequently insufficient cooling of the Cylinder
Liner.
We therefore strongly advise to check the engine for correct fitting of the blind flange.
On engines currently build, the pipe to the upper Water Guide Jacket has been omitted, see
section 3.

2 CORRECT FITTING OF THE BLIND FLANGE

In order to avoid accidental exchange of blind/open flange we suggest fitting them to the pipe
flanges by means of tack-welding or with two M8 screws through the flanges, see below
sketch.
