1. ONYCHOCRYPTOSIS

-Ingrown toenail, also known as onychocryptosis or


unguius incarnatus, is the most common nail problem
encountered in podiatry, general family practice, and
dermatology

2. ONYCHIA

-an inflammation of the nail folds (surrounding tissue of the


nail plate) of the nail with formation of pus and shedding of the
nail. Onychia results from the introduction of microscopic
pathogen introduction of microscopic pathogens through small
wounds.

3. ONYCHOLYSIS

-when a nail (nail plate) on your fingers or toes separates


from the skin on which it rests (the nail bed).
HEALTHY CONDITION

-Healthy fingernails are smooth.without pits or


grooves.They’re uniform in color and consistency
and frees spots or discoloration

-Taking care of you nails can help prevent infection


and other health problems.

TO KEEP YOUR FINGERNAILS LOOKING THEIR BEST:

1. Keep finger nails dry and clean. This prevent bacteria from growing under your
fingernails

2. Repeated or prolonged contact with water can contribute to split fingernails. Wear
cotton-lined rubber gloves when washing dishes.

Practice good nail hygiene. Use a sharp manicure scissors or clippers. Trim your nails
straight across, then round the tips in a gentle curve.

3. Use moisturizer. When you use hand lotion, rub the lotion into your fingernails and
cuticles, too.

4. Apply a protective layer. Applying a nail hardener might help strengthen nails.Ask
your doctor about biotin. Some research suggests that the nutritional supplement biotin
might help strengthen weak or brittle fingernails.
