PHYSICAL THREATS
A physical threat is a possible cause of an incident that
could result in data loss or physical injury to computer
systems. Physical security refers to the protection of
workers, hardware, programs, networks, and data from
physical situations and events that could result in serious
damage or harm to a company, departments, or
organization. This includes protection against fire,
natural disasters, robbery, theft, elimination, and
terrorism.
TYPES OF PHYSICAL THREATS:
1.Violence and Assault: Physical harm caused to a person by
actions such as hitting, punching, kicking, or using weapons.
2.Robbery and theft are threats to personal or organizational
property made with the goal of stealing or taking valuable
objects.
3.Vandalism is the deliberate destruction or damage of
property, such as buildings, vehicles, or other valuables.
4.Kidnapping is the unlawful abduction or kidnapping of a
person against their will, usually for ransom, extortion, or
other criminal motives.
TYPES OF PHYSICAL THREATS:
5.Terrorism: Acts of violence or intimidation meant to create fear and
panic in a populace for political, religious, or ideological purposes.
6.Bullying and harassment are repeated and intentional negative actions
or threats intended to intimidate, coerce, or cause distress in an
individual.
7.Industrial accidents are those that occur in workplaces, factories, or
other industrial settings and endanger physical safety.
8.Arson is the intentional setting of fires to cause damage or harm to
property.
9.Civil unrest is defined as public disturbances, riots, or protests that have
the potential to turn violent and endanger human safety and public order.
SICAL SECURIT
PHY Y
-Physical security is intended to protect people, property, and physical
assets from any action or incident that could result in loss or damage.
Physical security is critical, and security teams work together to
ensure the protection of digital assets.
-Physical security is an important component of overall security, which
includes computer security and information assurance. Physical security
is frequently focused on digital and cyber threats; however, neglecting
physical security can expose an organization to a variety of
vulnerabilities.
TYPES OF PHYSICAL SECURITY:
1. Access Control - Limiting access to specified areas of your building is
the first step towards keeping your staff safe.
2. Surveillance Tools - Having a surveillance system, such as a video
camera and CCTV system, installed at multiple areas of entry can result
in a safer building.
3. Security TRAINING - Ensuring that your team is aware about the security
system can help ensure that it is being used correctly. This information
may also give employees confidence that they can handle the situation.
4. Security Guard - Having a trained professional on-site can also help
reduce various physical security risks at a facility. This is also a low-
cost technique to make employees or tenants feel safe while allowing
for everyday comings and goings.
TYPES OF PHYSICAL SECURITY:
5. Perimeter security - is the process of controlling and monitoring admission
to a facility or property's outer boundaries applying barriers, fences, walls, gates,
and access control systems.
6. Intrusion Detection Systems - Sensors and alarms detect unauthorized entrance
or movement within a secure area and send notifications or alarms to security
staff.
7. Access control - is the process of regulating and monitoring who is allowed to
enter and exit a place. This means limiting access to authorized individuals using
identity systems, key cards, biometrics, or other authentication mechanisms.
8. Security personnel - Having security guards or staff actively monitor and
respond to security events. They may also perform routine patrols to ensure the
security of the property.

H Y S
PPhysical controls are security measures
implemented inside the structure in order to
prevent or restrict unwanted access to sensitive
information.
TYPES OF PHYSICAL CONTROL:
Secure your premises. This includes the installation of
physical barriers such as fences and gates, as well as
security cameras and alarm systems. These security features
can help prevent unwanted access to your facility and lower
the risk of theft and manipulation.
Protect your data center: The data center is the core of any
organization's information systems. This can be
accomplished by placing security cameras, alarms, and
physical barriers around it.
TYPES OF PHYSICAL CONTROL:
Control access to sensitive areas:Not all employees require
access to every area of an organization. To reduce the risk
of illegal entry, sensitive places, such as the data center
or server room, must be protected.
Use physical security measures: In addition to regulating
access to sensitive areas, physical security measures should
be used to prevent sabotage or theft. This may include the
use of locks, safes, and other physical security measures.
TYPES OF PHYSICAL CONTROL:
Alarm systems Alarm systems are an important response layer on top of
your cameras, which capture past incidents. These can be standard
sensors that detect door openings, motion or sound detectors in case a
person climbs by using the ceiling, or other environmental monitoring
equipment such as smoke detectors that can call the fire service.

Proper lighting This one seems quite obvious. Good lightening, both
inside and outside, might discourage a criminal men from trying to
break in at night. At the very least, all building entrances should be
brightly powered.

Environmental events are incidents or situations that affect the
environment. These events, whether natural or man-made, have the
potential of affecting ecosystems, biodiversity, climate, and other
environmental components.
Environmental events can refer to a wide range of incidents that
affect the natural environment. These events can be natural or
created by humans.
TYPES OF ENVIRONMENTAL EVENTS:
Natural disasters:
*Hurricanes, typhoons, and cyclones - are powerful tropical storms that produce
high winds and heavy rainfall.
*Earthquakes - are the shaking of the Earth's surface produced by tectonic plate
movements.
*Floods - are the overflow of water onto typically dry ground, which is usually
caused by excessive rainfall, storm surges, or the melting of snow and ice.
*Wildfires - are uncontrolled burning in woods or grasslands that are typically
worsened by dry weather and strong winds.
*Tornadoes - are violently spinning air columns that extend from
thunderstorms to the ground.
TYPES OF ENVIRONMENTAL EVENTS:
Human-made Events:
*Industrial accidents - involve chemical spills, leaks, and mistakes in
manufacturing or production facilities.
*Pollution - incidents are classified as the release of chemicals into the
atmosphere, water, or soil as a result of numerous human activities.
*Deforestation - is the massive elimination of forests, typically for
agricultural, logging, or growth in cities.
*Oil spills - are the accidental release of oil into marine or land-based
areas, usually as a result of transportation or mining activities.
*Nuclear accidents - are tragic incidents that result in the discharge of radioactive
materials.
TYPES OF ENVIRONMENTAL EVENTS:
Biological Events:
*Epidemics and pandemics: are diseases that spread among nature,
animals and humans.
Environmental Policy and Regulatory Events:
*International offers: are negotiations and agreements
between countries to address global environmental challenges.
*Environmental Regulations: The implementation of laws and policies
that govern and minimize environmental damage.
TYPES OF ENVIRONMENTAL EVENTS:
Climate Change Related Events:
*Extreme weather occurrences: such as heatwaves, droughts, and heavy rains,
are frequently related to climate change.
*Melting Ice and Rising Sea Levels: The melting of mountains and polar ice
caps contributes to rising sea levels, which affect shorelines and
ecosystems.

Environmental Challenges and Crises:

*Pollution Incidents: Events involving major pollution incidents, such as
oil spills or industrial accidents.

Environmental threats are elements or
conditions that have the potential to cause
damage to the natural environment,
ecosystems, and the living organisms that
inhabit them. These risks endure the potential
to have severe and long-term consequences
for global health.
TYPES OF ENVIRONMENTAL THREATS:
Pollution
Toxic chemicals such as plastics, heavy metals, and nitrogen damage the air,
water, and soil, and are created by conditions such as manufacturing process
emissions and gasses, fossil fuel burning, acid rain, oil spills, and industrial
waste.
Global Warming
Human activity's release of greenhouse gases produces global warming,
which causes temperature to rise, resulting in increasing sea levels,
melting polar ice caps, flash floods, and deserts.
TYPES OF ENVIRONMENTAL THREATS:
Overpopulation
We are experiencing a shortage of resources such as food, water, and fuel
to support the growing global population, particularly in emerging
countries. Intensive agriculture, which attempts to reduce the problem,
surprisingly causes more damage by using chemical fertilizers, chemical
treatments, and insecticides.

Waste disposal
A huge volume of garbage is generated and dumped into the oceans. Nuclear
waste, along with plastic and electrical trash, is highly hazardous.
TYPES OF ENVIRONMENTAL THREATS:
Loss of biodiversity
Human activity is driving the worldwide loss of species and habitats. This
affects natural processes such as fertilization and endangers ecosystems,
especially coral reefs.

Deforestation
The removal of trees to create way for residential, industrial, or
commercial projects reduces oxygen production and has an impact on
temperature and rainfall.
TYPES OF ENVIRONMENTAL THREATS:
Ozone layer depletion
Pollution from chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) in the
atmosphere eliminates the ozone layer, which protects
the earth from damaging UV rays.

Nuclear accidents
Accidents and disasters at nuclear facilities can result
in an explosion of radioactive materials, causing long-
term environmental and health dangers.
TYPES OF ENVIRONMENTAL THREATS:
Water pollution
is the contamination of water sources such as rivers, lakes, seas,
and groundwater due to chemicals such as industrial discharges,
agricultural runoff, and inappropriate waste disposal.

Climate change
is the swelling of global temperatures caused by human activities
such as the use of fossil fuels, deforestation, and industrial
processes, which has resulted in severe weather conditions,
increases in sea levels, and ecosystem changes.
