TEACHING DATE: DECEMBER 5, 2023. LEARNING ARE: SCIENCE 10
TEACHING TIME: 8:30 – 9:20 QUARTER: II

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard
B. Performance Standard
C. Learning competencies/Objectives:
II. CONTENT/TOPIC IMAGE FORMED BY PLANE MIRRORS
III. LEARNING RESOURCES
A. References
1. Teacher’s Guide Pages
2. Learner’s Materials Pages Quarter I Module 4: Light: Mirror and Lenses (pp. 1-16
B. Other Learning Resources PPT presentation
C. Gad Core Values Shared Decision-making equalized Opportunities
IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting Directions: Complete the Venn diagram by classifying the
the new lesson [ELICIT] following object as transparent, translucent, or opaque. On a
sheet of paper, write the letter associated to each material in
the appropriate part of the diagram.
B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson How do you see yourself in mirror?
[ENGAGE] How do you compare the way you look and the way your
image look?

Trace the star!

Directions: Trace a line in between the stars. The line should
not touch either star.
C. Presenting examples/instances of the Through PowerPoint presentation the teacher will discuss the
new lesson [EXPLAIN] following concept.
Types of mirrors
1. Plane mirror – is a very smooth polished surface on
which light undergoes specular reflection.
2. Spherical mirror – which has the shape of a place cut out
of a spherical surface.
Law of Reflection
 The angle of incident ray is equal to the angle of
reflected ray.
 The angle between the normal line and the reflected
ray is the angle of reflection.

D. Discussing new concepts and practicing Checkpoint:

new skill #1 [EXPLAIN/EXPLORE] Check your understanding.
1. Consider the diaphragm at the right. Which one of the
angles {A, B, C, or D} is the angle of incidence?
___________ Which of the angles is the angle of reflection
____________

2. Perhaps you have observed the image of sun in the

windows of distant buildings near the time that sun is rising or
setting. However, the image of the sun is not seen in the
windows of distant building during midday. Use the diagram
below to explain, draw appropriate light rays on the diagram.
E. Discussing new concepts and practicing Reflection of Light in Plane Mirror
new skill #2 [EXPLAIN] Characteristics of image formed by a plane mirror.
3. The image is virtual.
4. The image is the same size as the object.
5. The image has the same orientation as the object.
6. The image has the same distance from the mirror as the
object.
Lateral Inversion (Left-Right Reversal)
- The reversal of the mirror image where the right side
of the object appears on the left side behind the
mirror.
F. Developing Mastery [EXPLORE] Activity time:
Checkpoint: A boy of height 1.5 stands 5m in front of a plane
mirror.
His image is _____m tall and _____m for him.

Honesty is the best policy.

Directions: Write the words laterally reversed.
G. Finding practical applications of Uses of plane mirrors:
concepts & skills in daily living. [EXPLORE]  Personal Grooming: From shaving to applying
makeup, plane mirrors aid individual in maintaining
personal appearance with precision.
 Interior Design: Mirrors contribute to creating
illusions of space and enhancing interior aesthetics in
homes and commercial spaces.
 Traffic Safety: Side and rearview mirrors in vehicles
are instrumental in preventing accidents by providing
drivers with a comprehensive view of their
surroundings.
 Scientific Experiments: Plane mirrors are
fundamental in optics experiments, illustrating
reflection principles and light behavior.
 Security Systems: Mirrors are employed in
surveillance systems, allowing for strategic placement
to monitor blind spots.
Sum up activity:
1. What are the two types of mirrors?
2. What are the two laws concerning the law of
reflection?
3. How do you describe the characteristics of image
formed by plane mirrors?
4. What appreciation on mirrors has the greatest impact
in your life as student?
I. Evaluating Learning [EVALUATE] Quiz Time: Answer the following questions.
Situation: A girl can see her feet at the bottom edge of the
mirror. Her eyes are 10cm below the top of her head.
1. What is the distance between the girl and her image
in the mirror?
2. How high above the floor is the bottom edge of the
mirror?
J. Additional activities for application or Read on the next topic: CURVED MIRRORS
remediation [EXTEND]
V. REMARKS
VI. REFLECTION Reflect on your teaching and assess yourself as a teacher.
Think about your students’ progress this week. What works?
What else needs to be done to help the students learn?
Identify what help your instructional supervisors can provide
for you so when you meet them, you can ask them relevant
questions.
A. No. of learners who earned 80% in the
evaluation
B. No. of learners who require additional
activities for remediation who scored below
80%
C. Did the remedial lessons work? No. of
learners who have caught up with the
lesson
D. No. of learners who continue to require
remediation
E. Which of my teaching strategy worked
well? Why did this work?
F. What difficulties did I encounter which my
principal or supervisor can help me solve?
G. What innovation or localized materials
did I use/discover which I wish to share with
other teachers?
