Chapter 6 Vocabulary
1. Distance: Is the total movement of an object without
any regard to direction
2. Displacement: Is the change in an object’s position
relative to a reference frame
3. Velocity: It can be defined as the rate of change of the
object's position with respect to a frame of reference
and time
4. Spedd: Is a measure of the rate of change of the
distance traveled by a moving object
5. Initial Velocity: It is the velocity at which the motion
starts
6. Final Velocity: Is a vector quantity that measures the
speed and direction of a moving body after it has
reached its maximum acceleration
7. Time: The measured or measurable period during which
an action, process, or condition exists or continues
8. Acceleration: Is a vector quantity that is defined as the
rate at which an object changes its velocity
9. Uniform Acceleration: Is a type of motion in which the
velocity of an object changes by an equal amount in
every equal time period.
10. Free Falling: When a body moves exclusively under the
influence of the Earth's gravity
11. Projectile: Is the motion of an object thrown or projected
into the air, subject to only the acceleration of gravity
12. Range: The maximum horizontal distance covered by
the projectile
13. Trajectory: Is the path that an object with mass in
motion follows through space as a function of time
14.Inertia: Is the inherent property of a body that makes it
oppose any force that would cause a change in its
motion
