Subject: Exemption from electricity bill for COVID 19 period wherein hostel had been vacated

Respected ma’am

This is in reference to the electricity bill we have been charged for 6 months (March -
September). We are hostellers and during this tenure, we had been asked by the administration
to vacate our hostel rooms via an order dated 18.3.2022, to which we complied and left the
hostel premises. We did not avail any facilities, namely electricity during this period, our hostel
building was converted into covid care facility for the hospital staff.Now, we are being asked to
pay the bill for the 6 months that we weren’t even on campus. This is unfair to us because we
did not use even a single unit during the time and now we are being charged , whereas no
students were charged for the covid period throughout the country .Being students, the amount
is large for us and we cannot pay it, and this has put our higher education in peril due to delay in
the clearance from the college.
We humbly request you to kindly look into the issue and grant us exemption from the said
electricity bill for the period wherein we had vacated our hostel rooms as per the official order.
