FADING HEARTS
By Emma Elam
[Music Starts]
A teen aged couple found themselves nestled on a wooden bench in a
quiet park. They sat side by side, smiles gleaming from their faces.
The girl, Ruby, hair flowing in the wind, leans her head against
Jake’s shoulder. Ruby’s eyes sparkling with love and happiness.
The boy, Jake, wraps his arm around Ruby’s shoulders creating a
sense of safety, and starts drawing her closer. Jakes eyes gazed
into hers.
They watched as the leaves rustled in the gentle breeze. Jake slowly
fades away.
[Music Ends]
She decided to text her best friend saying she misses him.
Ruby is walking back home, as she is walking past Jakes house, she
sees 2 people in the doorway. She realizes its Jake and a new girl.
She quickly hides behind a car on the opposite side of the street.
Jake leans in to kiss her.
Ruby slams front door. Runs up stairs crying. Jumps in bed and
starts listening to music. Ruby opens Instagram and searches for
Jakes account. She views his story. There is a picture of him and
his new girl.
She grabs a box full of hers and jakes memories in anger and starts
to rip and burn the photos.
Jakes stood in the local coffee shop waiting to collect his coffee.
Will waiting his eyes scanned the room. They landed upon a familiar
face. It was Ruby, his ex, sitting at a table in the corner. She was
doing schoolwork.
He smiles.
[Music Stops]
Jake and his new girl are stood outside the window where Ruby is
working. From the corner or her eye, she recognises Jake. She looks
away, grabs her headphones and ignores them. A tear runs down her
cheek.
Jake walks outside and gives the new girl her drink and a hug.
Outside the front window that Ruby is sat at.
[Déjà vu Effect]
They start to walk away from the coffee shop. Jake looks back at
Ruby. They make eye contact.
They both put headphones in, and both start listening to there song.
Scrolling through pictures with each other.
