ACTIVITY 1 | The Worker

Work is on your way. Are you prepared to work? Do you have the potential, character,
talents, and skills to take up the vigor of being a worker? What should you possess to become a
good worker? How will you prepare for work immersion?

Work has been defined as to fulfill duties and regularly wages or salary, work may
sometimes be called as job, employment or occupation. It is person’s rule in a society and is one
of the reasons why lives keep going. A person does work in exchange for payment, More work
implies a productive growth of economy while lack of this may result to major economic
problem in the society which lead to poverty.

Yes, I am ready to work, in order to perform a quality work. One must be good worker a
good worker must possess a strong personal and professional skill He must have the character
and the capability to perform his job in the most productive and effective manner. He must
have the sufficient knowledge and expertise in his skill to be an asset to his company. A good
worker must also have excellent organization and teamwork skills to be an effective leader and
follower to his boss and colleague. A good worker must have the potential, character, talents
and skills to take up the visor of being a worker. Characteristics of a good employee includes a
variety of attributes, skills and personal characteristics some skill and qualities are universal to
every job. One of a great quality of an employee can bring to most of the job is flexibility, which
is willing to take new responsibilities, able to handle to work on units convenience hours, next
is honesty and professionalism, telling the truth about tricky subjects and being polite, we
spoken and calm innovative ideas that will impact positively are an asset to the company.
While these are important to get the job done how these tasks are attitudes, approach, mindset
and adaptability of a good employee, I prepare for my work immersion in doing necessary
training in the school even attended seminar, and I research all necessary things about the
company. The rules DOS and DON’T’S, I have trained myself of all the characteristics and
potential to be a good worker.

I always envisioned myself to be the breadwinner of the family until now, I always look
forward working and earning money for them in fact, I had promised and set myself that I may
able to finish my studies or not. I will still find work to help them and now that I am on my last
in senior high school, I am a few steps closer to my dreams. Few years from now, I will be
working but before that, I have to undergo work immersion first and practice myself to be a
good worker, if I am going to assess myself, I think I am not 100% ready and prepared to be in
an actual workplace, first I must submit my complete documents, I must have enough
knowledge, adequate, skills and good moral character. I must be able to resolve the possible
needs and challenges I may encounter and lastly, I should practice myself to be open minded to
any changes and new learnings in my whole immersion process.

Reflection

1. Do you agree to the company’s policy guidelines, rules and agreement? Support your answer.

Yes, because in a company they have their guidelines to follow boss or institution
make a guideline that can be good for his employee, but if there is a rule that I can say
beyond my rights. Maybe should contradict and put my rights. Especially when the
rules insult my human rights, But if the agreement is good enough for us there
nothing to disagree from the rules.

2. Was there a rule that you think is not acceptable to you? Why?

For me nothing, I know that companies who have well to their employees they
received good give back and why? because if you are good to your colleagues and
employees you gain more blessings not from the people but from the almighty. Me
personally, I can do what they wanted to work for me but I don’t want to abuse my
rights as a person not as an employee. I give respect and follow what they want but
the only thing that I don’t want to feel from my accompanies is making me a bad
image and have no respect.

ACTIVITY 3 | Situational Analysis

CONFIDENTIALITY IN THE WORKPLACE

Suppose you work in a police station or a law firm and signed a confidentiality
agreement regarding all their cases at hand, suddenly your friend who was a suspect to a crime
asked you for some documents that are in your office’s possession that may help him in his
case. How would you deal with the situation?

Maintaining confidentiality in the workplace is important for building and maintaining trust and
for ensuring an open and honest communication between costumers, clients and employees. Workplace
confidentiality can be defined as keeping the employee clients and costumer information private.
Usually it is seen that organization take a number of steps to ensure that client information remains
confidential but when it comes to employee information. They may not be so particular however, this
thoughts process needs to be understandable and it importance, only can they expect their staff to treat
client and costumers.

Having willingness to work and being passionate is having also the fighting spirit in your work.
No matter how and where you look at it shall do great exchange regarding the situation above. It’s like
I’m in a situation where I’m in the middle of colliding stones professionally. I shouldn’t allow my friend
to have some documents in my position that need help him/her about the crime personally, as a close
friend, I would definitely have wanted help him/her so it’s like I’m in the middle of colliding stones. But
I have to into a decisions of not helping my friend to have those documents because crime is a crime,
no matter how and where you look at it, it’s still a crime about the case I can help him/her in other way
but not giving him the documents that can help him/her, for his/her crime if him/her is not guilty about
the crime. I can help him to be free. My job is my job that could be dreamed of someone so I want to do
My job effectively with honesty, I was trusted by my boss and my colleagues so I have to do it well.

Trust can be earned so I don’t want to waste the trust that they give for me, even if my boss will
know if for example, I’ll help my friend, but I believe that my god is watching over me, I am still guilty in
the eyes of be holder.

ACTIVITY 4 | Conflict Resolution

Did you ever experience disagreement and conflict with co-workers? How did you
handle the situation? How would you rate your skills in handling differences of opinion? Please
give an example that illustrates that skill.

Conflict is normal part of any healthy relationship, after all two people can’t be expected to
agree on everything all the time, the key is not avoiding conflict but to learn how to resolve it in a
healthy way. When conflict is managed or mismanaged it can cause great harm to a relationship but
when handled in a respectful positive way conflicts an opportunity to strengthen. The word between
two people. Conflicts arises from differences, both large and small it occurs whenever people disagree
over the values, motivations, perceptions, ideas or desires. Sometimes these differences appeal trivia
but when a conflict triggers strong feelings, a deep personal used is open at the core of the problem.
These needs a range from the need to feel safe and secure or respected and valued to the need for
greater closeness and intimacy.

The best way to handle these types of situations is to remain calm and think before you say
anything because before you say anything words are so we may not hurt the person physically but we
are slowly killing their confidence by saying things that we don’t really mean. Think that your co-
worker are your friends so anytime you have misunderstanding or problem you will resolve it in a
proper way, without affecting your other co-worker because a single fight can cause a bigger problem
not only between you two but in your entire workplace. Talk it out and find a solution so it will not
cause a bigger problem, being considerate always understand that all of you are just human and
humans usually commits mistake, being kind to co-workers when you know that he/she made a
mistake then freely approach him/her to correct his/her mistake, be helpful to people who needs your
help so he/she could understand where he/she is wrong. Never judge or laugh at them because of what
they can’t do. I can handle this situation by being understanding kind and respectful. Instead of mocking
others let them understand the situation good communication skills helps a lot in order to resolve the
problem.

If I were to rate the skills in handling differences of opinion in the situation that would be 8 over
10 because not all the time can handle we can do mistakes specially when we experienced lock of
communication about the situation. Yet, many learning to be learned.

A job interview is an interview consisting of a conversation between a job applicant and

representative to an employer which is conducted to assess whether the applicant should be hired. How
you answer questions during job interview can have a big impact on you being hired accepted as a work
immerse. Jot down questions that you have come across during your first dialogue. With the partner
industry work supervisor or head of office you will be assigned.

It has been said first impression lasts. By the fact, I made it sure that. I should be oriented with the
common questions. That the employers commonly asked. Practicing in answering the potential
question with a potential answer is good start. Having good impression to the boss is a must for me, it’s
natural to feel nervous but as long as you show self confidence and self-esteem, being able to know the
company’s vision and mission is a plus factor. During our interview with the partner industry
supervisor a lot of questions have been asked and some of them are as follow.

1.Tell me about yourself?

I am Aljane Dablio Zayas, 23years old I live in BINITINAN, BALINGASAG MISAMIS ORIENTAL in
progress graduate in BALIWAGAN SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL taking-up TVL major in Cookery in the year
2022-2023 and I am a flexible person can work under stress and I can adapt to changes. I have
undergone training and seminar to learn all the necessary things.

2.Why should we hire you?

You should hire me because I can contribute to your company and to make a good progress to your
company. I have the necessary skills for your company and I undergone training for this kind of job and
I believe that knowledge and skills I have gained in my studies can contribute greatly to the work that
your company does in the community.

3What do you do when you know you are right and your boss disagree with you? Give me an example.

Pick an appropriate time and place, avoid addressing concerns right before an important meeting or
deadline. Don’t publicly criticize your boss. Sending an email may be tempting, but communicating face
to face can avoid misinterpretations and allow you to quickly reach solutions.
Example: You have an example to about how handle the sales in order for the store to sell more
products. I just go to his office privately and talk about my idea for the sales to improve. Everyone must
be honest and respectful the way one’s communication to understand each other.

A lot of questions have been asked and some of it are personal, those questions above are some of the
questions that I remember during the interview, it’s been a great experience though.

SHS Work Immersion Portfolio Page 19

MOCK JOB INTERVIEW
Here are some questions that you may encounter during an interview. Try answering them.

Interpersonal Skills
1. What are your strengths? What are your weaknesses?

-My biggest strength would probably be adaptability. I am capable of adapting to changes in the
workplace. I have the willingness to embrace changes, regardless what environment I am in. I
am also helpful person to whoever is in need I would lend a helping hand being a benevolent
person has also become my weakness. It is difficult for me to say “no” to anyone. I always end up
doing other peoples work. I do not mind helping them because I see their works just important
as mine. Meeting deadlines also is something I have trouble with I appreciate tasks that are
completed on time. I am trying to improve my ways, so that I could finish all my tasks more
efficiently.

2. What do you do when you know you are right and your boss disagrees with you? Give me an
example.

-Pick an appropriate time and place. Avoid addressing right before an important meeting or
deadline. Don’t publicly criticize your boss sending an email may be tempting. But
communicating face to face can avoid misinterpretations and allow you to quickly reach
solutions.
Example: you have an example to about how handle the sales in order for the store to sell more
products. I just go to his office privately and talk about my idea for the sales to improve.
Everyone must be honest and respectful the way one communication to understand each other.

3. If your colleagues had an opportunity to tell us your primary strength what would that be? And,
your primary weakness-what would that be?

-My primary strength is being flexible, understanding and industrious person and My primary
weakness would be being too kind to people who asks favors and I never say no unless I can do
whatever they want or asks.

4. As a component of this position, you may have to work on a team on certain projects. Describe
when you’ve worked on a team before and what, in your opinion, constitutes an effective team?
What do you expect from others on the team and what do you need from others on the team?

-I am expecting to have mutual respect from everyone on the team. Everyone’s work will be
respected and acknowledged. Not only for that but also for their race, gender and level of
experience what I need from them is an open communication. It is essential for every team in
order to work efficiently. Each group member must also contribute their fair share to fully
understand what their responsibilities are this can lead to success of an organization.

5. What do you do when others resist of reject your ideas or actions?

-whenever other people reject my ideas and actions, I just accept the fact that everyone has
different perspective. Instead of being depressive about it I think of a way to enhance it there is
SHS Work Immersion Portfolio Page 20
always a room for improvement. Rejection is a part of daily work life. When I am being rejected,
I would asks a professional for guidance suggestions are really a good help.

Behavioral
1. Suppose you are in a situation where deadlines and priorities change frequently and rapidly.
How would you handle it?

-This what most people fail to handle, when I am given a task. I always expect the unexpected,
especially in deadlines. Changes in time can be unexpected once I was asked to do a certain
duty. I would do it right after the time it was given to me because there will be circumstances
where I have to shift my priorities. It is a good thing that I have adaptability skills. It helps me
deal with chaos and focus on my tasks.

2. How do you know when you are stressed? What do you do to de-stress?

-I know when I am stressed when I experience to much headache, acne, always angry
sometimes silent and loss of appetite. I would take a medicine for the headache and sleep to
relax my mind and body. But sometimes when I feel angry, I would just sit in a corner and
meditating to the things I’m angry of them I would keep myself busy so I would be distracted.

3. Tell me about a time when you were a part of a great team. What was your part in making the
team
effective?

-Two months ago, we do our practical research proposal, it is required to us Grade 12 students to
do research paper, we with my groupmates need to put extra effort to do the tasks. I do most of
the things I could do in order for the papers to be done together with my groupmates I encoded
and printed the papers since I have the source to do the job. When we do the cooking for the

4. Suppose your supervisor asked you to get information for them that you know is confidential and
he/she should not have access to. What would you do?

-If I’m in this situation I would say to him that I should go to the head in order to get the certain
information because it may cost me my job and I should go to the person in charges of the
information to inform that my supervisor wants to get information to them.

5. Describe a time when you performed a task outside your perceived responsibilities. What was the
task? Why did you perceive it to be outside your responsibilities? What was the outcome?

-In the middle of a busy schedule. I was asked to create a promotional video of our school. It took
me
time to accept the work but as saying “no” to request my weakness. I took the responsibility I have
written all my plans, before starting so I could work efficiently many people may see it as a waste of
time since it is outside of my perceived responsibility but I honestly think of it as a way to improve
my management skills, which is an advantage for me, especially in the workplace. Luckily the
outcome turned out well, I was thanked and praised for doing a great job.

liked about it.

-The book I’ve read in the last year is “FILIPINO STYLE DISH” I like this book because it’s help
me to learn new Filipino menu and I also read some psychological novels and the best part I like
of the novels is when the girl who’s the main character are realized that not everyone in this
world are simple minded you can’t underestimated someone’s thinking maybe he/she
sometimes need to considered someone’s opinions.

2. What was the most creative thing you did in your last job?

3. What is your interpretation of “success?”

-The common misconception of society when it comes to success is that you could not consider
yourself successful if you did not do it alone. Just because it is done by a lot of people, it does no
mean that you are less likely to achieve success. Teamwork can lead to innovation and self-
growth. Teamwork can lead to success it builds commitment, which makes everyone in a team
work effectively.

4. Describe an ideal work environment or “the perfect job.”

-My ideal work environment is the one that let’s employees establish skills and qualities,
improves each and everyone’s abilities I also enjoy interacting with others. I work best when I
knew I am surrounded by bright people and when everyone is treated with the same respect
and one that is centered around working as a team and allows everyone’s talents to flourish. I
find that work best in an environment that is empowering and positive no matter what the work
is that that I’m doing remember, just as with any interview questions, to be yourself.

5. In what way(s) do you express your personality in the workplace?

-I actually just express myself the way I really am I do not pretend to be someone I am not just
to please everyone and get their attention. I am approachable everyone could come to me to talk
about something. I do not let my mood affect the way I treat people. I am a very joyful person I
like spreading positivity telling people to never lose hope even under difficult circumstances.

Leadership
1. How would you describe an ideal supervisor?

-An ideal supervisor is the one who is an effective communicator and learner being a supervisor
that not necessary have to know everything as long as you know how to listen to your team
members, you constantly learn and improve your understanding once your members see you
doing this. It will also motivate them to learn.

2. What strengths did you rely on in your last position to make you successful in your work?

-I am a non- experience student and I am clueless about what people do in their actual
workplace. I have the skills that are proven effective as I have observed. being able to be
positive in though circumstances really helped me achieve my goals. This kind of attitude
avoids situations where you might make mistakes, just be consistent.

3. As a supervisor, it is essential to motivate employees in your area. Sometimes this must be done
using non-monetary means. Please describe some creative ways you have motivated and
recognized employees in the past non-monetarily.

-As a supervisor, I help my employees to be motivated and recognized non-monetarily, as

research shows that employees show greater enthusiasm and appreciation towards non-
monetary incentives. Like a lunch with a manager or head a teambuilding or an extra day off is
much more impactful. I give this moment for them to be more motivated to work non-monetary
appreciation and motivation leaves a more impression or employees and they feel more
recognized and engaged.

4. Explain, step by step, how you have coached an employee who had performance problems.

-When I coached on employee who had performance problems, I do this.

*I ask what is the problem why he/she can’t do the tasks properly
*After I have known the problem, I find ways how to solve the cause of his/her problem.
*When I come up with the solution on his/her problem, I share it with him/her privately.
*I praise his/her efforts and the tasks he/she had done right.
*I even guide him/her on the tasks in order for him/her to feel he/she is not alone on doing the
tasks.

5. If you had to describe your own leadership style as directive, delegating, or coaching, which
would you choose? Please explain why giving examples.

-If I choose between the tree, it would be the coaching leadership style. This has unique
characteristics unlike the other leadership styles. This creates a stable and positive workplace

environment. also it enables the alignment of the organizations goals and culture with the
career and personal aspirations of the people who work there.

Optional Situational Questions: Please explain how you would handle the following situations:
1. You observe two of your employees arguing in a central location in the office.

-I would approach and tell them to go the office in order to hear what they are arguing about
allowing them to express their frustrations to learn more before responding. Making sure to
clarify any points of what I don’t understand by repeating the issue back to the employee asking
follow-up questions and investigate the cause of the argument. I’ll talk to the witness carefully
to understand even more.

2. One of your employees comes to you complaining about another employee and insisting they
should no longer work together.

-When one of my employees complains about another employee, I would look into it, I would
address the problem. I would observe the other employee who is being complained then I would
talk to the employee who complains and resolve the problem by letting them talk to each other
in
order for them to understand each other situation. But the solution would depend to the
employees complain.

3. One of your employees comes to you to complain that he/she has a more demanding workload than
another employee and wants the workload to be shifted.

-A good manager is not only a person that delegates the right tasks to the right employees, they will
also be more than willing to do everything they can to ensure that their team can manage it
workload
effectively and timely manner. I would see to it that everyone must have fair workloads. I would
give
some of the workloads to employee who have the same peace of work with the employee who
complain. I should keep an open-minded to suggestions, limit overtime to helps employee struggling
with the workload, extend assistance wherever necessary, facilitate remote working place, keep
them
healthy and make the workplace healthier and happier for them to be productive and less stressed.

grades. But it’s also responsibility that I should take care of because it will benefit me in the

ECHOES and PONDER

ACTIVITY 12 | Mock Job Interview

During the conduct of the mock job interview, do you think you did well?

I think I did a pretty good job on answering those sets of questions. It make me more
enlightened the way the questions were just simply but beautiful because of how our cognitive
thought work and it is also important that to answer these questions honesty is that to
determine your skills and weaknesses so they will orient you on the part you’re not good. I may
say that I am determined, flexible, honest, enthusiast and dedicated person, I need to overcome
my weaknesses such as overthinking sensitive and improved.

What are the areas that you think you are good at and areas that needed to be improved?

I think it would be that I am productive and optimistic because of the experience I had right now
as a student and it would help me a lot I get anxious once in a while. While the strength are the most
abundant trait of a person, there must be a weakness aligned. Which is me being anxious and not
confident enough of my proficiency in speaking English. Because I don’t have any skillful majorities on
English proficiency like I do read a lot of books and other contents, but if I speak a lot of people judge
me which is true. But then again, I’m still learning and still learning to prepare me from circumstances
occurred.

Are you more confident now to answer during job interview?

Still average because of how I answer these questions reflects my personality and most of
this are my thoughts and opinions about something so I hope only these sets of questions
indicated will immediately be answered with no stutters and heavy breathing at all, at first it’s
hard, but still a challenge that needs to be faced and being prepared, I just need to be true myself
SHS Work Immersion Portfolio Page 28
and be confident enough that I can meet all the expectations of the interviewer, I do believe that
by taking all the advise given my teachers, this would equip me in the future.

from my teacher that you must know how to deal with people or costumers, that you must
understand the true meaning of respect, that not everyone can deal with your personality and
that you must understand your limitations and I adjust myself in every aspects and lucky enough
to discovered that my crew members is unique and they know how to handle and communicate
with each other during work. Their perception, intelligence, creativity, genetics and personality

WORK IMMERSION HIGHLIGHTS

Work immersion is an instruction based on extensive exposure to

surrounding that are native or pertinent to the object of study that is complete
involvement in this activity or interest. The immersion trains students and
strengthen their skills or expertise at their work in the future and also it is part of
K-12 curriculum in the Senior High School students that need to accomplished,
with this activity that I joined for the first time, I fully understand how why it was
called an “Work Immersion” it was to throw or absorb ourselves into the
situation others.

Work immersion honed my skills in my chosen field expertise. Through

work immersion can able to explore, interest with people of various personality
get to know the ideals of my career and most importantly. I get to develop my
skills in my chosen field. With the hustle and learning that I had in my work
immersion I also get to know myself I realize what I really want in the future I
was able to reflect on the advantages and disadvantages of my future with this I
know that I can already adjust in my future work after graduation and I will able
to pursue my dream job. From our work immersion at Baliwagan, Senior High
School I learn many things to have more patience in doing any tasks or work. I
could really say that it’s a great adventure and experience for me that I could
treasure it for my life. Work immersion is other way to learn how the business
work or actual place where we build new experiences. Through this curriculum it
consists of 80 hours to expose us to a work area in the actual settings it is a
competency which enhance the student skills, confident and knowledge which
help us to build our future career. Through work immersion I got a chance to
improved my skills in my chosen field, with the hustle fun and learning that I had

time and all of the struggling sacrifices, pain and happiness that we had shared

ACTIVITY 31

MY REFLECTIONS
How did the experience change me as a person, and how will it help me in the future

This eighthour immersion process is just a pursuant to the DepEd mandatory for the eyes
of many intended for graduating students. But for me that process would not merely serve one
of the requirements to be load in schooling because this activity had thrived with a lot of
learning experiences as well as having the chance to know how to embrace diversity inside the
real work place. Thus, developing the capability of adjusting with the new setting.

With that, I can disclose the most significant part of this experience of mine. That is how I
exhibit my ability not just in performing my tasks vigorously but also in rearing one of my
hidden craft of handling various individual inside the work place.

“Walang mahirap na gawa sa taong matiyaga” a saying of every Filipino workers which is
very true when performing our tasks, duties and responsibilities in our working areas. We
need to do our best in our daily routine or tasks in any company we worked in to cultivate a
valuable reward in return of our hard work. But we need to remind ourselves that we need
also to respect our superior, even our subordinate in any tasks to have a good company and
relationship with them and also to avoid any commotion. Through this program, the students
can be ready for their big step in working and be comfortable and familiar with business
related conditions in line with their specialization students experience the social interaction in
work environment that would help them as they graduate and face the real life. Work
immersion is useful as it enables Senior High students to decide if what they have chosen in
school is what they want to have as a career. Being able to test their skills and knowledge in
practice will help them develop their career choice.

On the job training (OJT) is one of the best, training methods because it is planned,
organize and conducted at the employee’s worksite. OJT will generally help the student to
increase their skills and knowledge. It also help the students to become a young professional.
The importance of work immersion must be seen as vital point of giving students a venue to
improve them through experiencing real stuff firsthand it helps students to acquire knowledge
and experience that can help them grow as professional individuals.

Experience in my life teach me what is wrong and what is the result of what you did, it can
help me in the future to do things more effortless and be kind to people. Because work
immersion is a stage where the graduating students can show their skills and talents what it
comes to their chosen courses. Also because of this work immersion they can apply what they
have had been learned during our class hour. The immersion a beneficial for the student to
enhance their skills and enlighten our minds for the things that they are lack of and this work
immersion is considered as the stepping-stone for the students to practice and develop their
self for what they have chosen. During this stage, students may realize how their chosen
courses it may be work in the future so that they have learned an idea that their courses will
bring. If it is really suits to them or they found it a boring one, working hours is important
because it is considered as you record in order to accomplish the working day that have given
in each student.
