6. WORK DESCRIPTION

Work execution shall be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SUBCONTRACT, the
applicable specifications, suppliers recommendations, the good practice and in conformity with the
requirements of the documents listed in chapter , and including:

♦ insulation installation (insulation material, jacketing, vapour barrier, weatherproofing, etc.);

♦ Valves/flanges insulation boxes (all types) and/or flexible removable covers installation;

♦ proper prefabrication and preparation of materials, in order to keep the wastages and surplus
materials below abnormal values;
♦ connection to cold shims of supports and final sealing;
♦ cleaning (from all traces of grease, dirt, machining residues, painting, etc.) of surfaces to be
covered by insulation;
♦ execution of insulation supports, such as angles, rings, plates, nuts, except if supplied by the
Equipment Vendors;

♦ supply and erection of all the necessary scaffoldings for the execution of the work, fully
compliant with local rules and regulations.

♦ supply of all temporary covers and all precautions and measures required to maintain work
areas clean and tidy and the necessary measures to ensure the protection of all personnel,
machinery and materials, during the execution of the work.

♦ SUBCONTRACTOR's attention is drawn to the time lags between equipment insulation

works and piping insulation works, as well as on the cold insulation of flanges which must be
executed after drying of lines. These constraints lead to ruptures in the workload which may
lead to demobilisation and remobilisation and must be accounted for by SUBCONTRACTOR.

♦ SUBCONTRACTOR will give all access such as scaffoldings to the Subcontractor in charge
of the installation of the electrical heat tracer designated by CONTRACTOR for installation of
such tracer, and will endeavour to work in co-operation with the said Subcontractor.

♦ In case insulation jackets must be painted - whether jackets are not already pre-painted by
manufacturer - SUBCONTRACTOR will give all access facilities (in his workshops or at Site)
such as scaffoldings to the Painting Subcontractor designated by CONTRACTOR for the

7. QUALITY CONTROL/TESTS/INSPECTION

Controls and supervision must be carried out at all phases, from prefabrication to the execution of
finishing activities, and in particular:
at installation of insulation, thickness verification, shells and mattresses, arrangements, panels,
glues, joints, insulation fastening, plate coatings, vapour barrier mastics, removable or fixed
insulation on flanges and valves, and finishing plates around supports, gussets, nozzles...
The main phases and relevant controls will be recorded in specific documents according to the
quality control plan.
