ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT: "GULAYAN SA

PAARALAN SY 2019-2020"
"GULAYAN SA PAARALAN SY 2019-2020"

I. INTRODUCTION

Gulayan sa Paaralan Program is an activity which aim to promote proper nutrition and
mitigate hunger among learners. Eating right amount of fruits and vegetables will help
develop the body and mind of the students, that is why all schools are encourage to
have this kind of program. Lasip National High School support this program, that
implements through the leadership of Mr. Salvador T. Santos School TLE/Gulayan sa
Paaralan Coordinator, with the guidance, support and supervision of Mr. Genaro T.
Salacsacan Head Teacher III-TLE, Mr. Rolando C. Diaz School Principal (June 2019-
November 2019), Mrs. Rosario C. Ferrer School Principal (November 2019-Present),
TLE Teachers and with the enthusiastic learners and supportive parents of the school
the said program was implemented successfully. The learners were trained to grow
vegetables using containers like sack, mineral bottles, and others, they were also
assigned to observed the agronomic analysis of the vegetable plants for proper fertilizer
management, water management, weeding management, pest and disease control
measures and entrepreneur. Proper land preparation, soil sterilization, seed sowing and
transplanting were also taught to them. Learners were also encouraged to do their
backyard gardening at home and apply the good practices of gardening learned at
school, as part of their responsibilities in sharing and implements consumption of
vegetables among their community for a better healthy and balance diet.

ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN

A. PRE- IMPLEMENTATION PHASE

• Land preparation T.L.E. teachers initiate cleaning of the garden area and cultivation of
the soil.
• Select the area or space for planting.
• Identify different variety of vegetables, fruit bearing tress and medicinal plants based
on considerable and available factors like the soil, weather condition, and area.
• Encourages different grade levels from Junior High and Senior High to participate in
planting and maintaining their designated garden plots.
• Collect animal manure and rice hay (dayami) as source of organic fertilizer.

B. DEVELOPMENTAL PHASE

• Gathered bamboo in making fences and walls.


• Construct garden design with the help of T.L.E Teachers.
• Created compost pit and dump bio-gradable waste, animal manure, and rice hay
(dayami) in order to have natural fertilizer.

C. POST-DEVELOPMENTAL PHASE

• Requested the PTA President for additional seedling with the help of Genaro T.
Salasacan, Head Teacher III.
• Continue on the gardening and managerial system in maintaining the project.
• Encourages the learners in caring and maintaining the project.

tomorrow.”Charlie NardozziSchool garden is an area of land
with in the school ground or nearby thatembraces a variety of
gardening and agricultural elements in which school
childrenactively help parents and other interested
community member in creating and maintaining it and also
children use the garden for learning for recreation and byeating
what is harvested. Vegetables, flowers medicinal plants trees,
bushes andmany other plants are usually grown some small
animals are also kept. Benefits ofschool gardening can be
acquired by pupils, teacher, school and community; thereare
educational benefit, environmental, stewardship and
connection with nature,lifestyles and human active learning and
student engagement, student attention andmanagement, teachers
as gardeners, connection to history and community and lastbut
not the least, It’s a school pride. School garden is a wonderful
way to use the school yard as a classroom, reconnect students
with the natural world and the true source of their food and teach
them valuable gardening and agriculture concept and skills
that integrate withseveral subjects.A s p e r s t a t e d i n

a s implementation of the Department of Education Funded
Gulayan sa Paaralan (GPP)(objectives please see p. 1 of 7 DepEd
memo No. 89 s 2015)
This Program aims to:1.To promote vegetable production in public
school and secondary schools;2.To establish and maintain school
garden as ready food basket/source ofvegetables in sustaining
supplementary feeding;3.To serve as laboratory for learners;4.To
produce vegetables in the school that are rich source of
protein,vitamin and minerals and eventually increase
vegetables consumptionand improve learners’ nutrition;

healthier body comes from eating nutritious foods… the
ultimate goal ofGulayan sa Paaralan.Due the current condition
of our society brought about bythe corona virus (COVID-19)
pandemic, there is a need for us to have a healthierbody and
strong immunity. Gulayan sa Paaralan is one of the programs
that aimsto mitigate hunger and improve learners’ health
condition. Despite of the hardsituation we are facing, the
Naggasican National High School Gulayan sa Paaralanmanage to
attain its objectives, and school gardens were maintained
through thestrong partnership of the parents, teachers, and other
stakeholders. The unendingsupport and effort of the parents /
guardians in repairing the GPP facility andmaintaining the
school garden, with the help of the General Parents-
TeacherAssociation, Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program
(4Ps) members, and the Barangay Council of Naggasican
"GULAYAN SA PAARALAN”
(2019-2020)

Charlie Nardozzi once said “To plant a garden is to believe in


tomorrow”. Gulayan sa Paaralan is a program aimed at promoting good
nutrition and reducing hunger among students. Because of the current
state of our country, which has been brought on by the corona virus
(COVID-19) pandemic, we need to have a healthier body and stronger
immune. Consuming the recommended number of fruits and vegetables
will aid in the development of kids' bodies and minds, which is why all
schools are encouraged to implement such program. Tocablao
Elementary School supports this program that started to implement
on the year 2020. The said program was implemented successfully
with the help of the enthusiastic and supportive parents of our
learners. Each Purok were given their assigned area to plant their
vegetables. They are also the ones who is assigned in maintaining
their respective gardens. Those vegetables that were harvested were
given to the parents in sustaining supplementary feeding for their
children.
