The goal of the game is to find the corresponding pairs, as below. One student calls out two numbers,
if they match keep on board, if not erase.

Elicit questions with some of the verbs from the grid. Ensure all students can use the Simple Past in all
forms.

W.O.B Play TIC TAC TOE – student needs to say the verb in the past tense in order to get
his/her circle or cross. Get them to then make sentences in the negative, positive,
question forms with their verbs.

HAND OUT TASK 1: Holiday Email – Explain: You received an email from your friend this morning but
when you printed it, some of the words were missing. Write questions to find the missing
information. When you have written all the questions, work with Student B. Take it in turns to ask and
answer questions. Write the answers on the email in the spaces provided.

HAND OUT TASK 2 – Holiday Survey – Transfer the questions from TASK 1 into the left-hand column.
Then interview each other about their last holiday. Write notes in the column marked ‘My partner’.
When you have finished, work with another partner and interview them.
