4.1 Introductory Activity

( 7 minutes)

A. Group the class into 4.

B. Assign a particular number to the group.
1. A bank offers 0.25% annual simple interest rate for a particular deposit. How
much interest will be earned if 1 million pesos is deposited in this savings account for
1 year?
4.2 Activity 2. How much interest is charged when P50, 000 is borrowed for 9 months at an
( 15 minutes) annual simple interest rate of 10 %?
C. Each group will be given 8 minutes to solve.
D. The presenter of the group will discuss their output.
(The teacher will guide the students during the process. Follow- up questions - to
draw students’ idea )

The teacher will ask the following questions:

1. In answering Math problems, what are the steps to consider?
4.3 Analysis 2. What are the given on the problem? What is asked on the problem?
( 10 minutes) 3. What formula/equation do you use in answering the 1st & 2nd number?
4. Given a situation
Inquiry based- Learning ( Teacher guide students in processing answers )

1. The important skills that should be enhanced are emphasized by the teacher by
having an organized lecture that summarizes the learning from the given activity.
4.4 Abstraction
Several examples will be given if necessary ( enrichment activity )
( minutes)
(teacher maximize student’s idea by facilitating

To ensure the commitment of the learners to do something to apply their new

learning in their own environment, the student will be given an additional activity.

A. Joselito Hermoso III plans to buy a brand new car and applies for a loan amounting
4.5 Application to P500,000 in a City Savings Bank, the simple interest of which is P157,500 for 3
( 20 minutes) years, what interest rate is being charged?

B. Jherec Nino won Swertres and invested at an annual interest rate of 7% in , an

amount earned P11,200 of simple interest in two years. How much money was
originally invested?

Formative Assessment - Recognize Prior Learning ( Review)
