Directions: Read and answer the following items. Write your answers on
a 1 whole sheet of paper. Show your solutions.

I. Circle Theorems

Given the figure below, AB is tangent to ⊙ O . The measure of

BC = 2x+6, CD = x+40, DE = x and EB = 60° .

Find the following.

a. the value of x h. ∠4 o. ∠ 11
b. DE i. ∠5 p. ∠ 12
c. BC j. ∠6 q. ∠ 13
d. CD k. ∠7 r. ∠ 14
e. ∠ 1 l. ∠8 s. ∠ 15
f. ∠ 2 m. ∠9
g. ∠ 3 n. ∠ 10

II. Equations of Circles

A. Write the standard form of each equation of the circle. Then,

graph the equation in a graphing paper.(5 points each)

1. Center: (0,3), r = 2 units

2. Center: (4,5), r = 6 units
3. Center: (-1,4), r = √ 5 units

B. For each of the following equations of circles, determine the

center and radius and convert these equations into general
form. (5 points each)
1. (x +7)2+( y −4)2=16
2. ( x +3)2+( y +2)2=225
3. (x−5)2 +( y +5)2=6 0

C. Solve for the following problems.(5 points each)

1. In the figure, G(m, 0) is the center of the circle, where 0<

m < 7. The circle passes through P(7, 4) and its radius is 5
units.
a. Find the value of m.
b. Find the equation of the circle in standard form.

2. Apollo 8 was the first manned spacecraft orbits the moon at an

average altitude of 185 kilometers above the moon’s surface.
Determine an equation to model the orbit of the Apollo 8 Command
module if the radius of the moon is 1,740 kilometers. Let the
center of the moon be at the point of origin.
