PALAMING, JANELL M.

BPED 3-1

During your elementary and high school years, do you think most of your teachers
performed the Affective Assessment? How did they do it?

Affective assessment plays an important role in assessing students’ how they feel
about or view some things. During my elementary and high school years, I would say that
most of my teachers performed the affective assessment, Ma’am Cherilyn my teacher
when I was in Elementary always creates Rating scales in assessing our behavior or
interest whether the particular behavior or interest is usually, sometimes, or rarely
experienced or sufficient. Additionally, Sir Jeremiah always asks us to do a written
reflection about the certain topic that we tackled or the self-report hence, he’ll know the
insights of his students and how it affects them.

Furthermore, my high school teacher Sir Ced always uses questionnaires or

surveys to assess the student’s interests and responses on a particular topic or view
certain interests and values. By that, we students will have the opportunity to express
what’s inside us, or what is our perspective on certain values, also it will let us students
release what we cannot tell to somebody, questionnaires aren’t always about closed-
ended questions but mostly requires open-ended questions to have a thoughtful response
that the teacher desires to read.

By using affective assessment teachers are more informed and ultimately, hence
they are being aware of how they will communicate with their students or how they will
make adjustments to suit the preference of their students. All and all affective assessment
is important to use especially as a future educator it will cater to the student’s attitudes
about the relevance and importance of the content they are learning and also about their
beliefs concerning their own ability to learn.
