OBJECTIVES

At the end of this discussion, learners should be

able to;
 identify the factors that affects chemical reaction;
 conduct laboratory experiment that explains the
factors that affects the rate of chemical reaction;
and
 recognize the application of collision theory in a
specific local practice.
WORD SEARCH
Direction: Within 2 minutes, find
the 3 conditions in order for a
chemical reaction to occur
through a word search. In the
word bank there are 6 words
which you have to group together
(if applicable) to satisfy the 3
conditions.

Direction: Based on the 4 pictures given for

each number, identify 1 term that could
describe them all. The number of boxes also
gives you the clue for the word.

COLLISION INSIDE THE LABORATORY
COLLISION INSIDE THE LABORATORY

Objectives:
After performing this activity, you should be able to:
 identify the factors that affects chemical reaction;
and
 conduct laboratory experiment that explains the
factors that affects the rate of chemical reaction.
COLLISION INSIDE THE LABORATORY
Materials Needed:
Group 1: iron stand, iron ring, beaker, candle, wire
gauze, alcohol burner, timer
Group 2: water, beaker, food color, stirrer, graduated
cylinder
Group 3: water, beaker, iodized salt, table salt,
stirrer
Group 4: vinegar, salt, petri dish, graduated
cylinder
COLLISION INSIDE THE LABORATORY

Procedure:
1. The class will be divided into 4 groups according
to their taste buds; spicy food, colorful food,
salty food, or sour food? They should go the area
of their choice.
2. The laboratory activities will be performed
simultaneously by each group;

Group Activities:

Group 1: TEMPERATURE CHECK!

Group 2: CONCENTRATION CHECK!
Group 3: SURFACE AREA CHECK!
Group 4: CATALYST CHECK!

PONDER TO BE GUIDED
Based on what you did, answer the following guide
questions.
Group 1: How does temperature affects the rate of
reaction?
Group 2: How does concentration affects the rate of
reaction?
Group 3: How does surface area affects the rate of
reaction?
Group 4: How can a catalyst affect the rate of reaction?

COLLISION THEORY IN CHARCOAL MAKING

Direction: Based on what you have learned,

identify the factors that affects rate of
chemical reaction present in an excerpt from
the narrative interview with the local charcoal
maker named Nong Banong. The excerpt is
entitled Hurno sang Uling; Hurno sang
