SUBJECT CODE: MMEM 621 2nd TRIMESTER

I. COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

A. INSTRUCTION: Start the discussion in a macro level and then move to specific citing various examples/incidents
relevant to the topic by using (IBC) Introduction , body/ citing with Legal Bases/theories and conclusion /recommendation

1. CURRICULUM IS A PLAN FOR ACTION OR WRITTEN DOCUMENT WHICH INCLUDES


STRATEGIES FOR ACHIEVING DESIRED GOALS OR ENDS (Behavioral or Managerial Outlook) “DEALING
WITH THE EXPERIENCES OF THE LEARNER “(Humanistic) “Field of study, as an intellectual or an academic subject
that attempts to analyze and synthesize major positions, trends and concepts of curriculum” In terms of specific subject
matter – Discuss the following view point would be on knowledge, concepts and generalizations of a subject or group or
subjects of the following approaches:

C. SYSTEM APPROACH
D. HUMANISTIC APPRAOCH

2. Advanced Curriculum Development examines the principles and practices essential to developing and
administering curricular programs, including knowledge and understanding about measurability, scope and
sequence, taxonomy, program designs, and the fit between a planned program and a taught or implemented
one.Curriculum design can be segmented into three forms. These include subject-centered design, learner-
centered design and problem-centered design. With these three forms discuss and differentiate the BASIC
EDUCATION CURRICLUM, K to 12 Curriculum and MATATAG Curriculum. Includes the challenges
encountered in implementing the said curriculum, government policies, lack of facilities and infrastructure, and
technical problems in the implementation.

3. Major conceptions of Academic Achievement: Basic Skills or Facts when behavioral psychology dominated the way
educators viewed learning (50s-60s) , “Conceptions change with the times, are influenced by many factors, and take
different forms for different people.” Higher thinking skills, problem solving, advanced knowledge Progression of
knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation. The following Theories of Intelligence recently
have proved beneficial to educators: Discussed it usefulness in application to classroom teaching strategies:

4. According to Skilbeck (1984), curriculum is the learning experiences of students, in so far as they are expressed or
anticipated in goals and objectives, plans and designs for learning and the implementation of these plans and designs in
school environments

developed in the particular epoch/era of Philippine history.

6. Curriculum development has to depend on philosophy for its fundamental norms. Every curriculum contains the
meaning of life resulting from the philosophical thinking of its exponent.

a. Schematically, discuss each comprehensively the following philosophical theories of education and give
classroom situation/activities to apply.

1. Essentialism
2. Progressivism
3. Perennialism
4. Reconstructivism

7. Blooms Taxonomy is a classification of the different objectives and skills that educators set for their students as a goal
or set of values, which are activated through a development process culminating in classroom experiences for students. The
degree to which those experiences are a true representation of the envisioned goal or goals is a direct function of the
effectiveness of the curriculum development efforts.

a. The following Bloom’s taxonomy are the 6 levels of structure for the learning objectives, lessons and
assessment of the curriculum. Give its importance to the development of the learners.

8. If curriculum development is to be a rational and a scientific rather than a rule-of-thumb procedure, there
should be some valid criteria on which to base its structure. The first important step in determining what the
curriculum should be for the given population is to diagnose its needs.
