My insight:
Between those given formats of Lesson Design, the Lesson plan I created is belong to 5
Es format. 5 Es format is a teaching structure that includes, (Engagement, Exploration,
Explanation, Elaboration, Evaluation). And this 5 Es format, guides the lesson particularly in
Science and Mathematics, just like what I choose in my Lesson plan and that subject is science.
For me, my work is align in that format because it also follows on the same sequence.
Just like in the first, which is the Engagement. In engagement I present a video clips, as a way
for them to be engage in the lesson. It stimulates their curiosity especially after I finish them to
watch I followed it with question. But the question is also connected on what they’ve watched.
Next, is the Exploration. In exploration I able to show some pictures that related on the topic.
They also start to interact, gain some understanding to be ready and explore in the new lesson.
Then also we have the Explanation. In explanation this where happens that teachers explain the
topic by supporting the students with the learning they deserved. And we also have
Elaboration. In elaboration wherein putting their new found knowledge to use in new situations
to improve their knowledge and learning. Just like what I’ve state in my lesson plan, I gave them
an activity which is the groupings, in this set up they can communicate with their classmate,
they can able to share their thoughts and ideas, collaborate with their group members and
improve more on their learning. And last we have the evaluation. Evaluation is the part where
we can test the students learning on the class. It helps both teachers and learners to improve
teaching and learning effective. It helps in forming the values of judgment or achievement of
student. That’s why it’s important because it help us to determine what works well and what
could be improved in a program or initiative.
The 5Es format allows teacher to create a unique learning experience for students. It
gives students a framework for making connections between scientific concepts and personal
experiences and applying what students have learned to new situations. That’s why I can say
that my work is best suit in this format.
