MINUTES OF GENERAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON SUNDAY OCTOBER 30, 2022, AT CH
RAINBOW HOUSE, GBAGADA, LAGOS.

1. CALL TO ORDER: The meeting kicked off at 2.05pm, with prayers offered by Elder Agnes
Adinkwuye, followed immediately with a session of worship and Praise by Rainbow House
Choir.
2. OPENING REMARKS: After the Elders’ Anthem was rendered, the Vice chairman, Dr Joseph
Nwobike, welcomed all and enjoined members to take the gathering of Elders serious. He
urged everyone to be up and doing as expected of elders.
3. EXHORTATION: The Chief Host, Pastor Ayo Adelaja delivered the exhortation.
Quoting the Bible text, Philippians 3: 13 - 14, He titled his message ‘Press On’. He
submitted that it is important for Elders to hear words of encouragement as they progress in the
pursuit of Christ. He made reference to Joshua who was above Eighty years of age when he
asked to be given the mountain. He said age should not be a barrier and advised that Elders
should not relent or relax.
He cautioned that the enemy will not want us to fulfil our God-given mandate but wants
us to discontinue the journey at some point. When we look back at the past we become
discouraged and weary. We must continue to press on as we draw strength from the word of
God at all times. He advised that no matter the achievements recorded or how far we have
come, we still have to press on to become more and more like Christ.
He submitted that we must conform to the image of Christ as we soldier on forgetting
the things that are behind us sighting Paul as a good example, we have no finishing line with
Christ quoting Luke 9:22. We should not look back to failures, non-achievements and past
successes; we must press on regardless – “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our
faith” After his message Elder Adetola said a prayer to consolidate the word.
4. READING AND ADOPTION OF MINUTES: The minutes of the previous General Executive
Council meeting held on September 18, 2022, at RCCG Chief Shepherd’s Court, Iwaya, was read
by the Assistant Secretary. After a few minor observations, Elder Yemisi Omasuyi moved for the
adoption and with Elder Sokoya supporting. The minutes were thereafter adopted.
5. MATTERS ARISING:
5.1 Visitation to local Parishes: The House was reminded of the resolution at the last executive
council meeting held on September 18, 2022, at RCCG Chief Shepherd’s Court, Iwaya. It was
observed that in most parishes of RCCG there are members above fifty years of age who do not
identify with or participate with its programmes. It was agreed that we need to work out
modalities of getting more elders involved.
5.2 Family Weekend:
• Elder Ogunnusi was invited to speak on the on-coming Family Week programme. He
said the theme for the programme was ‘Jubilee’ and encompassed all members of the
family including Elders. He said the Thanksgiving by Elders on the Sunday of the
programme is expected to be remitted according to the prescribed percentages.
• Also, parishes are to giver a report of the activities as was conducted in each parish.
• The programme pamphlets were available to be paid for and collected by all parishes.

6. PROGRAMME CALENDER FOR 2023

• Nov. 26 - General Assembly - Father’s Place, Iwaya
 7. A.O.B:
• Celebrants for the months of October were called forward for recognition and prayer
was offered for them by Elder Olasubomi Adekola.
8. FINANCE: Elder Owuze collected and prayed over the offering. Total amount yielded was
N9,240.00 (Nine thousand, two hundred and forty naira) only.
14. ADJOURNMENT: In the absence of issues for deliberation, Elder Toyin Dada moved for
adjournment and was promptly seconded by an Elder from Chapel of Resurrection, Festac. The
meeting was thereafter adjourned for a General Assembly.
15. CLOSING: Closing prayer was said by Elder Akanni Ogunnusi
16. ATTENDANCE: Total in attendance was 27 (t) including Executives.
