BRIEF HISTORY OF

NEW ESTATE BAPTIST CHURCH, SARAKI, ADIGBE, ABEOKUTA.

New Estate Baptist Church history began a result of the fuel scarcity in be
Nigeria curing the re regime of the late Major General Sanni Abacha in the year
1995.

GENESIS OF THE CHURCH

On Wednesday 23rd August 1995, about 27 believers from different

denominations converred Mr. Christopher Adisa Akindele's residence at Phillip
Street Saraki, Adigbe Abeokuta for a mid-week Prayer session.

This became the first prayer meeting of the Church (New Estate Baptist
Church). After the Prayer session, this believer group agreed in oneness to meet
again on the following Sunday i.e 27th August, 1995 at the same venue since
the fuel scarcity was so severe that no one could afford trekking to his/her
church.

That Sunday worship service recorded great success with 27 Souls in

attendance.

Evangelist G.A. Idowu emerged as the centre leader who happened to give
Sermon from Acts of Apostles Chapter 11:4, & Luke 9:57-58. The sermon
theme was “A HOUSE BUILT ON THE SOLID ROCK”

While Baptist Hymn Book 42 was taken as the opening hymn & YHB 84 as the
closing hymn.

It was immediately after the day's service that all the members in one accord
selected the first set of church Executive members namely

1. Evangelist. G A Idowu Church Header

2. Mr. Akindele C. A Secretary

3. Mrs. Sotonwa Bose Treasurer

4. Mr. Makind T. Kola Financial Secretary

5. Master Idown Peter Choir Master

6. Master Idowu Sunday Sunday School Superintendent

The Church's permanent site's foundation was laid on the 12th December 1997

The First baptism was conducted a 3rd May, 1998 when five young ones were
baptised.

The first Pastor was Pastor David O. Idowu who assumed office on 1st August
1999.

The Church was organized on December 16 th 2001 at a service that was

presided by Rev’d E.O Oyemomi from the mother Church Ibara Baptist Church.

VISION OF THE CHURCH

The vision of the church is to build Society filled with love, peace and Joy.

The mission f. the church is “Evangelism, telling people about Christ, and
bringing new converts into the Christian fold”.

The value of the church is purely doing things that will bring people in to the
church of God.

GROWTH LADDER OF THE CHURCH

The Church started precisely 23rd August, 1995 at no 11 Phillips Street Saraki,
Adigbe, Abeokuta in the home of Mr. Christopher Akindele. It later moved to it
permanent site 12th December, 1997 at No 6 Jagun Street, Saraki, Adigbe,
Abeokuta
CHRONICLES OF CHURCH LEADERSHIP

The leader of the church when it Started in 1995 was Evangelist G A Idowu The
following pastor's haves served in the Church.

1. Rev’d D.O. Idowu 01/08/09 – 2004

2. Rev’d E.A. Ojeleye 01/01/2009 - 2009
3. Rev’d S.A. Okewunmi 01/01/2009 - till date

The Deacons are Dns Makinde D.O, Dns Okewunmi J.F, Dns Adesina A.O and
Dns Adewunmi T.J.

NOTABLE EVENTS IN THE CHURCH

The Church has done some notable events namely wedding, Birthdays,
Ordinations of our Pastors, Choir song service which comes up every year, and
lastly the 20th Anniversary of the Church which was held on the 19 th of
September, 2015.

CHURCH PLANTING

The Church has planted known as Goshen Baptist Church Odemo, Phase II,
Saraki, Adigbe which was done on the 10 th April, 2011 at a temporary site. A
total of 15 worshippers graced the first Sunday service.

MISSION ACTIVITIES.

The Church has gone for mission work at Ohori mission field.

The youths of the Church goes for yearly evangelism at Eerin Oba.

The WMU of the Church visits Orphanages and remand home with gifts.
