OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
a. define “general”, “specific”, and “textual evidence”;
b. cite evidence to support general ideas from a text; and
c. express the ideas about the importance of citing evidence to support a
general statement.

Textual Evidence- it is the details and examples


that come straight from the text. It is all about
proving your analysis.

 Evidence is something that you see,


experience, read or told that causes you to
believe that something is true or has really
happened. It can be found in both fiction texts
such as novels, poems, or short stories.
 Citing is mentioning evidence from a text in
your writing. If you cite something, you quote
it or mention it, especially as an example or
proof of what you are saying.
 Good readers can cite evidence by including a
quotation or exact sentences from the text or
paraphrasing the author’s words or ideas.
