Formative Assessment #2

Learning objective:Students will identify and classify examples of long-term (seasonal) and

short-term (daily) weather changes with accuracy of 90%.

Explanation of the Assessment: After completing their Weather Dice Game where the students

roll a dice and discuss if the weather that is landed on the top short or long term weather changes

and the completed the physical movement. The students will complete an exit ticket that has two

questions. The first question asks to circle one short term weather change, while the second is

asking to circle two long term weather changes.

Rationale: When completing the formative assessment, the students will learn short and long

term changes while incorporating weather. When understanding the long term weather changes,

the class discussed the different seasons and the temperature/weather that occurs during the time

of that season. For the short term weather changes,.we discussed rain, snow, sunny, cloudy, etc.

that can happen for a short period of time. As a whole, we then discussed experiences for long

and short term weather changes.

Scoring Guide Description: The students will be asked two questions in an exit slip after

completing the Weather Dice game. The first question asks the students if they can identify one

short term weather change out of two options. The second question asks the students if they can

identify two short term weather changes out of three options. This lets the students know that

there is one that should not be circles for each question.

Differentiated Scoring Guide:

The scoring guide is asking the students two questions about weather change. The first question,

the students have to circle one short term weather change out of 2 options. In the second

question, the student will only be circling one of the short term weather changes instead of two.

This allows the students to be able to see if they are understanding the learning by being able to

identify one of each long and short term weather change.
