Components Duration Activities and Procedures
Introduction and 5 minutes Start the lesson by asking students to think about a
Warm-Up time when they felt compassionate towards someone
or a situation where their community came together to
overcome a challenge. Discuss with the class what
compassion and community resilience mean to them.
Concept 10 minutes “Compassionate Acts”
Exploration Divide the class into small groups and provide each
group with a scenario where someone needs
compassion. Ask students to brainstorm ways they
can show compassion in that situation. Each group
will present their ideas to the class and discuss the
impact of their actions.
Valuing/Wrap-up 15 minutes “Community Resilience Plan”
In small groups, students will create a community
resilience plan for a fictional town facing a natural
disaster. Students will identify resources, support
systems, and strategies to help the community come
together and overcome the challenge. Each group will
present their plan to the class and receive feedback on
their ideas.
Reflective 5 minutes “Compassion in Action”
Journaling Students will participate in a community service
project that demonstrates compassion towards others.
This could include volunteering at a local shelter,
organizing a donation drive, or helping out at a
community event. After the project, students will
reflect on their experience and discuss how they can
continue to show compassion towards others in their
daily lives.
