ROUTINARY ACTIVITIES
1. Prayer
Before I formally start our class today, let us pray.
Requesting everyone to please rise.
2. Greetings
Good morning class!
Kindly arrange your chairs and pick-up the pieces of papers
under your chairs.
3. Checking of Attendance
Class secretary, do we have an absentee today? There is no absent for
today ma'am.

Guide Questions:
2. In your own word how are you going to explain Gene mutation is an
chromosomal mutation based on what you have alteration in the
seen? sequence of nucleotides
in the DNA while
Chromosomal mutation
is an unpredictable
change that occurs in
the chromosomes.
Group Activity: Concept Map
Materials:
1. Modeling clay of varied color
2. Learning Activity Sheet
Procedures:
Learners will be grouped into three. Each group will be given
activity worksheet and perform the activity in every learning
station for 5 minutes. Make sure to observe classroom rules
while doing the activity.
STATION 1: TRANSLOCATION
1. Using the modelling clay the students will make a
model of two (2) chromosomes. The one
chromosome should have a different color and size
from the other.
2. The students will break one part of each of the
chromosomes, exchange the parts and attach them
to each of the other chromosomes. See illustration
below.
STATION 2: DELETION
1. Using the clay provided in the second station, the
students will make a model of a chromatid (one of the
duplicated copies of a chromosome).
2. They will remove a portion of it (close to either end of
the chromosome or within the long arm or short arm).
STATION 3: INVERSION
1. The students will make a colored chromatid as shown
below.
CHROMOSOMAL MUTATIONS
Translocation Deletion Inversion
1. How many
chromosomes
is/are
involved?
2. How did you
change the
original
structure of
the
chromosomes
?
3. Which
condition do
you think
result/s to
change/s of
chromosome
material?
Please
indicate using
the words
loss, gain,
either loss or
gain of genetic
material.
Guide Questions:
1. How are the three chromosomal aberrations different
from each other? How are they similar?
2. Do you think the normal genetic content of the
chromosome is affected?
What do you think are the possible factors that cause
mutations and will eventually lead to human genetic
disorders?
EVALUATE: Assessment
Directions: Choose the letter of the best answer.
1. An alteration in DNA structure or sequence of gene.
a. mutation c. gene replication 1. A
b. protein synthesis d. none of the above 2. C
3. A
2. A chemical or physical agent that interacts with DNA and 4. C

J. Additional activities
EXTEND:
for application or The gain or loss of chromosome can lead to a variety of
remediation genetic disorder. For your assignment, research the different
genetic disorders and write it on your notebook.
