day in the making. In the Barong dance performance, accompanied by Balinese
music called gamelan, a number of traditional classical musical instruments

animal, and what is quite interesting is the keris dance, the dancers stick the tip
of their kris into each other's bodies, this scene is quite tense.
THE FOLLOWING IS THE STORY OF THE BARONG
DANCE :

GENDING OPENING
Barong is accompanied by monkeys in the dense forest. Then came
three masked people who made efforts and efforts to overcome the
forest. The monkey was not happy with their presence and ended up
fighting with them and managed to cover the nose of one of them.

FIRST ROUND

15
Two dancers appeared, they were loyal followers of Rangda who
were looking for Dewi Kunti's followers where they were on their
way to meet the Patih.
SECOND ROUND
Once Dewi Kunti's followers arrived at their destination, one of
Rangda's followers transformed into Rangda's form and introduced an
evil spirit to Dewi Kunti's followers, causing them to go into a trance
and forget their memories before meeting the Patih. Unaware of the
changes experienced by Dewi Kunti's followers, the Patihs with them
faced Dewi Kunti.
THIRD HALF
There appeared Dewi Kunti and her son Sahadewa. Dewi Kunti had
lent Rangda to hand over Sahadewa as a victim. Actually Dewi Kunti
was not willing to sacrifice Sahadewa for Rangda. However, with the
occult knowledge that Rangda has with the persuasion of Dewi
Kunti's followers who have been possessed by an evil spirit, Rangda
can influence Dewi Kunti's mind and common sense so that Dewi
Kunti suddenly gets angry and hates her son Sahadewa very much.
Dewi Kunti gave orders to the Patih to throw Sahadeva into the forest.
The Patih did not argue because he had been influenced by evil
science.
FOURTH HALF
Sahadeva was tied under a big tree in the forest and left alone.
Suddenly Batara Shiva descended from heaven. Feeling sorry for
Sahadeva's condition, Batara Shiva also bestowed magic and
immunity on Sahadewa, unaware of the gifts given by Batara Shiva
trying to rip, tear, and kill Sahadewa but to no avail. Desperate for not
being able to kill Sahadewa, Rangda surrenders and begs for
forgiveness from Sahadewa so that Rangda atones for his sins.
Sahadewa's request was fulfilled and Sang Rangda was forgiven.
FIFTH HALF

Sahadewa to a duel. In this battle, Kalika changed her form several
times, first becoming a boar, but was defeated by Sahadeva. Kalika
turns into a big crow but is defeated by Sahadeva. The last time
Kalika turned into Rangda's form. Because of Rangda's power,
Sahadewa became overwhelmed against him. Strive to win the battle.
Sahadewa transformed into Barong. They keep fighting until there is a
loser, but just as painfully there is no winner or loser so this fight is
eternal and where there is evil there will be good that will continue to
fight against evil.
CLOSING
Barong's followers appear with kris intending to help Barong but with
his magic. Kalika in the form of Rangda succeeded in making the evil
spirit take over the bodies of the followers of Barong, so they turned

Kecak dance
Taken from the story of Adi Parwa's book, this Garuda Wisnu Kecak dance tells
about the journey of Sang Garuda who must be willing to be the mount of Lord
Wishnu for Tirta Amerta in heaven to relieve his mother from slavery.
This story is taken from the first parwa of the Mahabharata, about the search for
Tirta Amarta to the birth of Garuda. Tirta Amarta is called the water of life that
will give immortality to anyone who drinks it, until it is finally held by Lord
Wishnu. The owner of the Universe.
Until one day, it was about the bet between Dewi Kadru and Dewi Winata to
guess the color of the horse's tail Oncersrawa, the favorite white horse of the
gods. To win the bet, Dewi Kadru carried out a cunning tactic by sending her
son Sang Naga to make Oncersrawa's tail black.
Without hesitation, Garuda agreed to bring Tirta Amerta as a condition for his
mother's freedom. He went through various obstacles, looking for Tirta Amerta
to nirvana and even to hell.
Seeing the firmness and sincerity of Garuda's intentions, Lord Wishnu was
melted to the point of lending him Tirta Amerta. With the condition that later
the mother is successfully released, Garuda is willing to serve as the mount of
Lord Wishnu
And so this story is told.

TANAH LOT
The location of
the Tanah Lot
temple attraction
is located in
Beraban Village,
Kediri District,
Tabanan
Regency.
The uniqueness
of the Tanah Lot
tourist attraction
is found in the location of two temples which are on a black rock cliff on the
coast. Both temples overlook the ocean off the Indian Ocean. One temple was
built right at the top of a very large black rock and is located on the left side of
the beach. This temple is better known as the Tanah Lot temple.
At high tide, sea water will cover the beach area and make the location of the
Tanah Lot temple look like it is in the middle of the ocean. This high tide
moment also looks like a ship made of large black stones floating on the surface
of the sea water. While the second temple is on the edge of a cliff, which is also
in the middle of the sea on the right side of the Tanah Lot beach area. Under the
cliff at the location of the second temple
there is a large hole, which is always
passed by big waves.
The beauty of the Tanah Lot temple is
found in the combination of natural beauty
combined with cultural beauty. When you
are on vacation to Tanah Lot on the island
of Bali, you will see the roar of the waves
crashing against the rock cliffs. Towards
sunset, little by little the color of the sky
changed dramatically filled with various
colors.

When the sun is no longer visible on the

horizon, it is the time for the most beautiful sunset in Tanah Lot. Because
besides visitors can see the sunset, visitors will also see the silhouette of the

29
Tanah Lot temple. The beauty of the moment at sunset in Tanah Lot is what
always attracts tourist visits to Tanah Lot Bali.
The history of Tanah Lot Temple in
Tabanan district is estimated to have been
built in the 16th century by a priest from
the Majapahit Kingdom named Dang
Hyang Nirartha. It is said that when Dang
Hyang Nirartha visited the beach in the
southern part of the island of Bali, he saw
a large rock lying on the beach in Beraban
village, Tabanan district. Then Dang
Hyang Nirartha got a revelation that on the
rock is a sacred place that can be used as a
temple location. The purpose of the
construction of the Tanah Lot temple is to
worship Dewa Baruna (God of the Sea).
Tanah means plain/land, Lot means sea, so
Tanah Lot means plain in the middle of the
sea. A Hindu temple building stands on a
large rock on the shoreline. In accordance
with the name of the place, the temple was
named Tanah Lot temple.
The temple is a sacred place for Hindus in Bali which is very sacred. Therefore,
not everyone who comes is allowed to enter the temple area. Only those who
have the purpose of praying, may enter the area within the Tanah Lot temple
and must wear prayer clothes. If the tide is high, to go to the Tanah Lot temple
area, you have to take a boat. Because the sea air exceeds 2 meters in the band
at low tide it is about 0.5 meters or without air.

30
Every temple in Bali on a certain day
there will be a big ceremony, not least
at the Tanah Lot Beraban temple.
Religious ceremonies at Tanah Lot
Temple are carried out in a period of
210 days using the Balinese calendar, or
about 6 months of the Christian
calendar. The determination of the day
of the ceremony at the Tanah Lot
temple on the Balinese calendar is
carried out on Buda Wage Langkir
which falls every four days after
Kuningan Day. The ceremony at the
Tanah Lot temple was held for 3 days
in order to accommodate Hindus who
wanted to pray at the Tanah Lot temple.
Every Hindu who wants to pray at the
Tanah Lot temple, is required to pray at the location of the holy spring which is
under the Tanah Lot temple location. The location of this holy spring is called
by local people by the name of Beji Kaler. The purpose of praying at the
location of the “Beji Kaler” holy spring, so that Hindus before entering the main
temple area, get holy water that will be used to cleanse their souls and bodies.
